MindSighted: BlackWing Pirates, Book 1 Kindle Edition
In or out of the Alliances, sorcerers and necromancers are considered a myth--until a single, shadowy figure brings those myths to life.
In or out of the Alliances, nobody is prepared for that...
The BlackWing Pirates, a fleet of space cruisers that form a secret branch of the Alliance Security Detail, discover what a myth-come-to-life is capable of doing when this sinister aberration begins a slow and deliberate attack against the upcoming Joint Alliances Conclave.
In the ensuing chaos, where deaths are unexplained and the impossible becomes possible, the BlackWing Pirates' most effective weapon turns out to be a blind clairvoyant, who sees better than anyone when his eyes are closed...

Product description
About the Author
Reinvention/Reincarnation. Those words describe Connie best. She has worked as a janitor, a waitress, a mower of lawns and house cleaner, a clerk, secretary, teacher, bookseller and (finally) an author. The last occupation is the best one, because she sees it as a labor of love and therefore no labor at all. Connie has lived in Oklahoma all her life, with brief forays into other states for visits. She and her husband have been married for more years than she prefers to tell and together they have one son. After earning an MFA in Film Production and Animation from the University of Oklahoma, Connie taught courses in those subjects for a few years before taking a job as a manager for Borders. When she left the company in 2007, she fully intended to find a desk job somewhere. She found the job. And the desk. At home, writing.

Connie has me sucked in again, adding a couple of new charachters and bloody Falchani love triangles!! I seriously love the way she writes and I love the characters and settings, I feel like I know them all personally and I get excited when someone comes back again, which I was so excited, actually happens in this story. No spoilers from me either, sorry. Loved it!!

I don't quite understand the 5* reviews here, but then again I couldn't get past the first chapters. Not having read any others, I found it hard to get into the story when every chapter shifted to another POV, and in the end I didn't care about any of them. The characters were too difficult to follow, and I wasn't hooked by the first three chapters.

A great new series

The start of another brilliant new series from the incomparable Ms Suttle. It includes a lot of characters from previous series, so not the best starting point for newbies but for those who've read earlier series, it's another good 'un!

New Series

This is a good beginning to this new series. It takes place in the Alliance with old and new characters. It's fun to see what everyone is up to, especially the children as adults. Travis and Trent and Wyatt. Jayna seems to have come a long way from the frightened young girl that she was. Randl is grown up and seems to have more special abilities than previously thought.
There is a powerful new enemy. Necromancy and Sorcery. Evil plots to take over both Alliances.
This is going to be another great series.
Oh, there is an exciting development for Winkler!

Absolutely perfect

Ms. Suttle has always been my favorite writer. Her ability to create a huge universe with unparalleled complexity and great characters is almost unrivaled. After over 30 books in this mind boggling universe I still get awed. If you want to enjoy this author you have to start from the beginning and go through all the ups and downs of her twisted mind and imagination and also get used to so many characters. But she has the ability to give you a vivid picture of a place, a character or a conversation in very few words, so the action and scope of one book is like a trilogy for most other authors.
This book is the type I describe as "not going to sleep at night and skipping work in the morning to finish"!
Five stars.
PS I judge books by how much pleasure I derive from them and don't care if they have unrealistic or incorrect or unexplained technology. This is fiction after all.

Hello old friends....

What nice visit with old friends. A catch up with a new twist! I didn't think I wanted a new story until I read some snippets mentioning some of my favourites. I'm so glad I did, a very nice catch up with a focus on some of the lesser characters. Always a great message on tolerance and acceptance woven in. Thank you again Connie.
