Ted Tayler is the international best-selling indie author of the Freeman Files and Phoenix series. Ted lives in the English West country, where his stories are based. He was born in 1945 and has been married to Lynne since 1971. They have three children and four grandchildren.

His thought-provoking mysteries appeal to readers of Sally Rigby, Joy Ellis, Pauline Rowson, and Faith Martin. His action-packed thrillers are a must for fans of Mark Dawson and J C Ryan.

Gus Freeman’s cold case investigations are carried out with reasoned deduction rather than bursts of frantic action. In each of the 24 books, unsolved murders are accompanied by romance, humour, and country life. The core message in the 12 Phoenix novels is that criminals should pay for their crimes. Unfortunately, the current system fails to deliver the correct punishment, so Phoenix helps redress the balance.

Gus and his team are working on another cold case. There are many people who are involved in the main story and his team has to eliminate the innocent ones. Gus has issues to solve in his private life also!

Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Stacy Read was a 13-year-old girl when she went missing. Several days later she was found in a canal, having been stabbed to death. The case was never solved.

Gus Freeman and his team are called to investigate ... and they aren't having much luck. Everyone seems to remember something different, if they remembered anything at all. Her family... mother, grandmother, aunt... all expected to be somewhere else. She wasn't reported missing for at least two days.

Why didn't anyone know where she was supposed to be staying? Why the wait to report her missing? What does the family have to hide? Who would have wanted this child dead? Why?

This is the 10th cold case file for Freeman and his team. As all the stories in this series, it is easily read as a stand alone. However, I do recommend starting at the beginning. As an ex-detective (retired) Freeman is a master of decIphering clues. I really enjoy the personal lives of Freeman and his team, as well a watching them solve a crime like a well-oiled machine. It's well written with strong characters wandering around an intricate plot. I look forward to the next adventure of Freeman and his team.

This book is what real detective cum political interference is all about. Does fiction imitate reality, or vice versa? TT brings Freeman to life.

I continue my attack on the perverse relationships between Gus and Susie. On the other hand I found a solution. I skip the scenes were Susie and Gus are involved in their personal relationship. The mystery was fairly easy to solve. Other than the authors celebrating an incongruous affair. It's a fairly absorbing story

Tayler pens another magnificent story in All Things Bright story. This is book ten, yes, I said ten, in Tayler's The Freeman Files series. I recommend this series thus far to anyone who loves a good mystery, along with dynamic characters. Gus and his team solve the unsolved cases, and his current case is none like no other, and that's all I'm saying about that. The plot is not just one note, solving cases, but it's about the people, the camaraderie, and looking for even the smallest clue. It's a grand collection of characters, that just meld together, to solve what has always seemed like the unsolvable. This author has a great imagination and I'm glad it's being shared with stories. Tayler is definitely high on my list of favorite authors. It is a very well-written story, and I enjoyed it. It is always a joy to read this author's stories. This author is not just a writer but a great storyteller. This is a magnificent story, kept this reader turning the pages. A definite attention grabber, so much I couldn't put it down. All Things Bright is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to reading many more stories by this author.

I received this book free for my honest and unbiased review. ~Amy's Bookshelf Reviews

All Things Bright: The Freeman Files Series: Book 10 by Ted Tayler

Stacey Read was thirteen and a half when she disappeared. Police found her body in the canal ten days later. Gus Freeman and his team are on the unsolved case. As they dig deep into their investigation they discover the horrific truth, and things may not always be as they are seen.

In the newest installment Gus has his work cut out for him. As he interviews (the) family and friends, none of the events seems to match up. They all have different memories of that day. Determination is what gets his job done as he slowly unravels the truth.

    (A) Fast paced story with plenty of suspects, twists, turns, and secrets revealed. Gus and his team are very likable, they are never deterred and are dedicated to finding the truth. This is my tenth book in the series, I see them as my friends. I found All Things Bright: The Freeman Files Series: Book 10 very enjoyable and strongly recommend to those who enjoy a great procedural/murder mystery. Great as a stand-alone, but I do suggest reading all in the series.

Another great cold case file success for Gus Freeman and his excellent team. They have to find out who murdered Stacey Read 4 years ago. It takes lots or revisiting the crime scene, talking to all the witnesses and examining the reports. This is the 10th book in this series and I cannot wait to start book 11.

5.0 out of 5 stars A thoroughly entertaining read during a miserably wet lockdown afternoon.

It is perfectly possible to read this book without having read previous Freeman Files books. There are a few references to previous storylines but the reader should have enough ability to work out what the context is without detriment to this new case.

The discovery of a young girl's body by a deserted part of a canal forms the starting point for this cold case. When first investigated, the police at that time were hindered by the fact that not all the facts were made aware to them and it proves to be the role of Gus and his increasingly efficient team to tease out the missing clues and evidence that was needed to solve the case. The team carefully re-interview and sort out the anomalies in the different statements and it is easy for the reader to miss some of the intricate nuances thrown up by these interviews.

The way the investigation develops is well paced and constructed. Once again Ted Tayler has managed to present a storyline that is believable and one can appreciate what a difficult job the police in real life have in investigating such crimes. What with today's limited manpower and restricted budgets, you can quite easily see how such cases are sometimes not given the depth of investigation that perhaps they deserve.

Gus's domestic life continues to be going along quite nicely although I expect a bit of a turn up in the next book.

Very good stories in the series, but very, very “
PC”. This is like the BBC, it has black, gay couples. I’m very surprised it hasn’t got a transvestite on the team. I do hope that all authors are not going this way from now. Let’s have some good old fashioned, real life stories.
