Heir: A Supernatural Crime Thriller (Dead Hollow Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 50 ratings

One man killed, another poised on the edge between life and death… And it’s not over yet.

Adam Rutledge regrets that he missed his chance to stop the man terrorizing Beecham County, and that people close to him are suffering because of it. But Adam’s torment is only beginning.

No one is safe from the man in shadows, as Adam will soon learn. But the serial killer isn’t the only threat he faces. Someone—or something—even darker is assaulting Adam’s mind, an evil he can’t begin to comprehend.

Adam remains the only person who can put an end to the growing menace but, with his sanity hanging by a thread, he can’t do it alone. Together he and an unlikely ally must track down the only person who may understand what the madman has in store, and know how to stop him… They hope.

Heir is the exciting conclusion to the Dead Hollow supernatural thriller trilogy. If you like abduction thrillers, complex characters, and a dash of paranormal, then you'll love Judy K. Walker's mind-bending tale of crime and family.

From the Author

The reading order for the Dead Hollow trilogy is:
1)
Prodigal: A Supernatural Crime Thriller2) Founder: A Supernatural Crime Thriller; and3) Heir: A Supernatural Crime Thriller

About the Author

A recovering criminal attorney, Judy K. Walker has enough spare letters after her name (and student loan debt) to suggest that insatiable curiosity is something fictional Tallahassee private investigator Sydney Brennan inherited from her creator. Fortunately, Judy's curiosity rarely involves murders.
In addition to the ongoing series featuring the intrepid red-headed PI, Judy penned the Dead Hollow Trilogy (
ProdigalFounder, and Heir). The Appalachian crime thriller series with a dash of the paranormal taps into the heart of her West Virginia upbringing, evoking the shadowy mountains and hollows (properly pronounced hollers) whose absence she still laments.
Judy writes from her home in Hawaii, where she is surrounded by husband, dogs, cat, and assorted geckos. If she's not tapping away at her computer, she's probably sweeping tumblepuppies (the piles of accumulated critter hair).

A recovering criminal attorney, Judy K. Walker has enough spare letters after her name (and student loan debt) to suggest that insatiable curiosity is something fictional Tallahassee PI Sydney Brennan inherited from her creator. Fortunately, Judy’s curiosity rarely involves murders.

Born and raised in West Virginia, Judy returned to her roots in the Appalachian supernatural thriller Dead Hollow trilogy (Prodigal, Founder, and Heir). Now she's back at work on the next Sydney Brennan book.

Judy writes from her home in rainy East Hawaii, where she is surrounded by husband, feral pigs, and assorted geckos.

MY RELATIONSHIP WITH SYDNEY BRENNAN: Many authors say their characters are their alter egos, doing the things they've always wanted to do in the ways they wish they could do them. At the risk of sounding shallow, my private investigator Sydney Brennan--with her shoulder-length, curly red hair--is my Hair Alter Ego. It's hard to tell from the ancient, faded, pre-digital photo at the right, but when I was very young I had red ringlets of curls. (And yes, shockingly, that is a book in my hands.) They never grew back after my first haircut, and my mother still laments their loss. The red hue is long gone and as for the curls, the best I can do now is a persistent cowlick and the occasional unruly wave.

I was already addicted to the story after reading the first and second books of the Trilogy: Prodigal and Founder. Heir is the 3rd part which I was eagerly anticipating. All 3 stories have a dark, psychic feel even though the characters are all people that you feel you know as well as your neighbors and could talk to. I grieved when things happened to them. The story swirls around them like a storm, a dance in which you feel the characters are one step behind, and working feverishly to catch up. I love the way the scenes interact with and flow into each other. I was happy to read at the end that although this was the end of the trilogy and it's stories, we will see the characters again. I do admit that some of the gory visual images Judy K Walker so skillfully describes are hard to shake from my psyche. These books can be reread and are still enjoyable, because they are so complex you get more out of them with each reading.

Oh I loved the Heir. And I became really fond of all the characters. But of course you need to read the trilogy. It was a great story and I enjoyed the touch of the paranormal in it. But the last book of the trilogy, the “Heir” brought it all together and put all the pieces in their place. A good read!

I loved this trilogy. It is sad that it had to end. All three books moved right along with no dead spaces. As they say it was a page turner. I read all three books in less than four days. Needless to say I did not accomplish much of anything else.

Fantastic ending to a brilliantly written trilogy. This book brought it all together, although I could read another dozen or so more books with these characters, I was thrilled with how the journey unfolded. Absolutely at a loss for what to read next, this book is in my heart now and I know it'll be a while to find something that will blow me away like this did, Read this trilogy!

This is an AWESOME series, and I hate to see it end!! My only consolation is that I now have all three books and can start at the beginning, reading straight through!!
