This was my first book that I have read by this author and it did not disappoint.
This book has a lot of emotions tied into it, and a beautiful love story.
It starts out in Clover's POV one of the main characters; her friends see her as a silent suffer alone type, but she really is just trying to help the only family member she has left, she spends every last dime she has to give her beloved grandmother the treatment she needs.
Her grandmother had given her the name Clover and told her the first leaf stands for hope, second leaf stands for faith, third leaf stands for love and all she needed was to find a four leaf clover, fourth leaf stands for love.
Clover wanted nothing more than to find this four leaf clover her grandmother had been talking about since she was a little girl and gift it to her, because she knew that would mean more to her grandmother than a 100 roses or carnations. Relentlessly searching and late a night Clover was running out of luck and time... Then unexpectedly she meets Shamrock.
This story has a couple plot twists, three POV's and such a cute ending. The author did an amazing job writing this book, I couldn't help but fall in love with both Clover and Shamrock and ended up reading the whole book in one day.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2022Clover does not live up to her name as being lucky, first in life and then in love. While trying to take care of her grandmother, a unfortunate brush with the law when her grandmother passes and out of the rainbow their is a pot of gold. Maybe her life is getting better.
Shamrock is the alter ego of Patrick, always wanting a good time, never wanted to be shackled to a women he has lived the playboy life style for ages, but as his friends starts marrying off life hits him and he wants what his friends have, but can he put his reputation behind him and find the one girl who can see through the shield.
This was a lovely short story full of fun and true optimism, we start in the middle of Clover's world a bit down on her luck not really wanting to find love and happy as she is, but when other circumstances happen she realises that she needs to live life and opens her heart. As for the character of Patrick he has lived his life a little too much and going through the journey of discovery with him was him realising he wants what his friends have. It is a lovely meet-cue that brings these two brilliant characters together and the story wonderful flows right the way through.
I have read many books by this author and they have all been different but the style and the quality of the writing never falters.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2022This book was a nice and easy read. The characters have some touches of personal tragedies, but the reader only gets a snapshot into the gorgeous playboy Shamrock and the innocent point of view of Clover. I enjoyed the perspectives of both Clover and Shamrock, but they were still very mysterious and that made me want more. I think I would’ve enjoyed an extended view of their background or day-to-day with these characters. When reading it went by really fast for me personally, and there were times I would’ve liked a more defined time frame. This is the first time I have read this author and will be looking into more of her writings.

5 out of 5 Stars
While this was my first read from C.A. King, it certainly will not be my last. Although the story was short, (it was the only fault I found; was I was left wanting more) it was a very cute and engaging tale.
The characters emitted a noticeable chemistry from their very first encounter, which continued to sizzle with humor and sarcasm throughout the novel.
Shamrock has quite the playboy imagine he was intent on maintaining, however the last of his pals to settle down, Shamrock begins to feel some kind of way about how lonely and bored the single life was becoming and finds himself yearning for a more permanent fixture, instead of the multitude of one-night stands that he had grown accustomed throughout the years. Clover had always been a good girl, taking care of her grandma, looking for her happily ever after; never once thinking of dating someone who had such a promiscuous reputation as Shamrock did.
With a little bit of luck, these two find that true love can turn up where you least expect to find it.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2022For a super short book, this one sure packs it all in!! I laughed, I cried, I smiled, and I wanted to smack someone all in the 30 minutes or so it took me to read this lil gem!
Shamrock, aka Patrick, is the town's playboy. He loves to go out drinking with his buddies but soon realizes that he's tired of the single life. He is ready to final settle down with "the one" instead of a one night stand.
Clover, who's one of the unluckiest people ever, is having a hard time. Her job's not great, grandma's not well, and life isn't treating her kindly.
What's the odds that these two meet up looking for a change?
It's a super cute rom-com that can be read in a short span of time. This is my first read by this author but I'll be looking for more of her books.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2022This was another great book by one of my favorite authors. If you have never read one of her books, I suggest you start now with this one. She’s a fantastic writer and has an amazing way of drawing the reader into the world they are reading about. She always makes me feel like I am living the story through her description and narration of the story. This was a shorter story than some of the books I am used to reading from her, but none the less was just as good. I don’t feel that the length of the book took away from any of the story. I will say that this one was a little slow at the beginning and took me a couple of chapters to really get into, but once I did I couldn’t put it down. It was very entertaining, and I loved the characters chemistry.

4.0 out of 5 stars Feel-good romantic comedy.
4 Stars
Shamrock & Clover: Fields Apart by C.A. King is a sweet, feel-good, emotional, and engaging romantic package that may be short in pages but packs the ‘reading experience’ of a much larger novel.
I have said this many times before and am likely to keep repeating it again many more times; I am a big fan of Ms. Kings work and have enjoyed all her stories immensely- so it was no great surprise that this book was a winning recipe for me as well. Shamrock & Clover has all the ingredients you could want from a contemporary romantic comedy about opposites attracting and finding love unexpectedly.
Clover has been unlucky in love, until she finds her Shamrock.
Happy reading!
Thank you, C.A. King!
