A Normal November: A Cold Case Murder Mystery Series (The Freeman Files Book 15) Kindle Edition
What lies beneath the surface of an ordinary November night?
In November 2016, Richard Chaloner’s life was brutally cut short. A respected garage owner and newlywed, he was gunned down in what appeared to be a tragic robbery. The case went cold, leaving unanswered questions and a killer still at large.
Now, years later, Gus Freeman and his Crime Review Team are reopening the case, determined to uncover the truth. As they follow a trail of buried secrets and simmering vendettas, they unearth a chilling realisation: Chaloner wasn’t the only victim.
Can the team stop a killer before they strike again?
A Normal November is a heart-pounding mystery that keeps you guessing until the very last page.

About the author

Ted Tayler is the international best-selling indie author of the Freeman Files and Phoenix series. Ted lives in the English West country, where his stories are based. He was born in 1945 and has been married to Lynne since 1971. They have three children and four grandchildren.
His thought-provoking mysteries appeal to readers of Sally Rigby, Joy Ellis, Pauline Rowson, and Faith Martin. His action-packed thrillers are a must for fans of Mark Dawson and J C Ryan.
Gus Freeman’s cold case investigations are carried out with reasoned deduction rather than bursts of frantic action. In each of the 24 books, unsolved murders are accompanied by romance, humour, and country life. The core message in the 12 Phoenix novels is that criminals should pay for their crimes. Unfortunately, the current system fails to deliver the correct punishment, so Phoenix helps redress the balance.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2021Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Two years ago Richard Chaloner was shot and killed while he worked in his at his garage. The case has gone cold, the investigating police determined it was a robbery gone wrong, as his wallet was thrown under a car, his bank card was missing and a gold necklace he never took off was missing. Adding insult to injury, someone used the bank card that evening to withdraw a large amount of money.
The Crime Review Team, Gus Freeman and his team, have been charged to find the truth about his death .. and solve the cold case.
Gus isn't sure this was robbery ... and there were things the original investigators missed. If they can find the motive, they can find the killer.
And when they do find the motive .. it is unimaginable.
With a strong plot and intriguing story line, this well-written police procedural has twists and turns that rival a roller coaster ride. The characters are finely drawn. I enjoy how Freeman and his team show a bit of their private lives, as well as the personal. Although 15th in the series, this is easily written as a stand alone. All the books in the series can be read out of order, but however read, this is a terrific series.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2021So glad there was another cold case for Gus Freeman and his team to solve. Taylor takes the reader right along for the journey, feeling as though you're in the midst of it all. This case was began with a blast and the excitement never stopped. Now we know who the culprit is we still have to wait for the next book to see the capture I'm waiting.....
- Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2021Mr. Tayler has put Gus and his team in a real mystery this time! Everyone the team talks to about the victim says he was a great person. They really have to get to the small details to even find a hint of who the killer is and why it happened. Great reading as always!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2021Loved this story and the way the loose ends are being tied up. Can’t wait till the next book to see how this brilliant author brings it all together.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2021I don't know why but l suspected Stan Jones Jr. I hope the next book tells if they got him or not. The Burnside case being solved was a bonus.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2022What a magnificent story in A Normal November by Ted Tayler. I am a big fan of this author! Whatever this author writes, I read. I've read every book in this series, The Freeman Files, so far. This is book 15, and I feel the momentum of always wanting more for Tayler. This author brings the story to life. The characters had a lot of depth, and were very intense, and raw, and very real. Gus is one of those intriguing and unforgettable characters. I read a lot of stories, and I love the different writing styles and storytelling abilities. This author has a unique writing style, and indeed can show stories. This case is another cold case from 2016, but for Gus, it doesn't feel like it seems. Like it is something more than just a murder of a newlywed. The team is on it, and I just loved, loved, loved it. It’s definitely un-put-downable! It is always an honor to read this author's books. The story brings the reader on a superb journey. This is a magnificent story that kept this reader turning the pages. This title is a definite attention grabber, so much I couldn't put it down. Definitely an unpredictable story, my favorite kind! A Normal November is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to reading many more books by this author.
I received this book to read and give my honest and unbiased review. ~Amy's Bookshelf Reviews

5.0 out of 5 stars Another cracking story from Tayler
Having read all of the Freeman files this was another story with a good twist.
So unlike the Phoenix series the first few of which are good tales but became outrageous right wing polemics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing normal...
...in this one! Murder and it's cover-up lead the team a merry dance into more complexities than they could have imagined. A good fast-paced yarn.
