The Showman’s Ghost Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 60 ratings

Step right up... On June 22nd, 1918, an empty Michigan Troop Train barreled into the caboose of the stalled Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus train. Eighty-six people lost their lives on that day, among them, Baldy the Clown, his wife, and their young son. Deemed an accident, no one was ever held responsible for the tragedy. On the centennial anniversary of the accident, Kristina, a photographer, is hired to cover a ceremony held at Showmen’s Rest Cemetery, the final resting place of the train victims. When strange visions and dreams start plaguing Kristina, she has to wonder whether the souls in that cemetery are truly at rest. As Kristina begins to doubt her sanity, the secrets of a shrouded past spill into the drifting reality of her present. Why is she being targeted more than 100 years after an event she had no part in? Who is the shadowy figure slowly driving her out of her mind? As the truth becomes clearer, only one thing is certain... More than a century later, the show must go on.

There are many people in this world afraid of clowns. After reading this story, the fear would only grow astronomically. The ghost clown in this book was quite scary not only in how terrifying he looked but what terrible things he could do to a victim. I really enjoyed the story being told via the past and the present. This way of storytelling allows the reader to gain information as they read along as well as become involved with what will happen next. I found myself turning the pages quickly in order to find out who Bandy the clown would be after next. The author was very descriptive in the ways Bandy dealt with each descendant he was able to locate. I would not anticipate to be on his list for sure! I recommend this book for those who like a good telling of a circus clown gone bad. 5* read.

Looking for something to break up the monotony of life? Bring up fears you had no idea existed within you?  Then this is your book! The book is beautiful written, the characters get tied to your heartstrings before you even notice. Trying to guess what may happen next is absolutely impossible, and you could never in a million years guess what would all transpire in the end.  I absolutely love this book, and recommend it to anyone that loves edge of your seat thrillers that leave you checking the darkest corners of the room before you head to bed. Great Read! The only downfall is the fact that it came to an end.. there is so much more I need to know.

I picked this book up on a whim because I saw it was free.
Man, can I say I am so glad that I did.
I love horror/thrillers, but at times I can be a bit of whimp...especially when there are clowns involved.
But with this one, I was so enthralled in the story I had to force myself to put the book down and actually participate in everyday life.
The book goes back and forth between the past 1918 and current times. I won't lie, while reading the wreck scenes my heart broke and I was so sad for the loss of the lives, that's how invested I got with this story.
If I had any complaints on this book. I feel the adoption thing for male lead character was kind of thrown in there and then forgotten about at least in the current times. We learn what led to the adoption in the past, but like I said once he finds out the climax of the book occurs and then ending.

5 Stars ⭐️ for Showman’s ghost by Candace Michelle Adams!!!
One of the wildest book rides I’ve been on in a long time!! I’m terrified of clowns but after learning from the author that this was based on a true story it made everything much more interesting. I began to love many of the deceased characters as well as the living ones. A mix of thriller, horror & heartbreak in one book for me. As I read on my lifelong fear of clowns diminished slightly Until the last sentence!! Ha it’s 4:15am & I won’t be sleeping!! Enjoy this spectacular read everyone 🤡😳

Thoroughly enjoyed this spooky tale that centres around a past tragedy befalling a circus and a present day haunting.

Was much better than expected - great storyline moving between past and present. Came together brilliantly.

The story entices the reader work out what happened in the past to cause the chain of events in the present. I love when a story encourages a reader to get involved.

A fascinating read that kept me on the edge of my seat. I also like the concept for this book - using a real incident from the past to create a fiction for the modern reader. It inspired me to research the incident.
