Plain Jane and Mr. Maybe (Plain Jane Series Book 7) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 28 ratings

Leonid Markovich is everything Sheridan Kincaid is not looking for in a man.
He’s handsome, manipulative, and a member of the New York Syndicate. He’s a criminal in an expensive suit.
But when he comes to her rescue and saves her six-year-old niece from the Mexican cartel, she thinks maybe he’s not so bad.
Maybe Leonid has a heart. Maybe he’s not an asshole.
He proves her wrong when he demands payment because he’s not a hero and for every good deed, there is a price. To keep her niece safe, Sheridan will pay that price, even if that price includes all of her tears, every drop of her blood, every ounce of her pride, and last but not least,
all of her heart.

From the Author

I love creating character of every color. My characters come to me fully formed whether they are black or white. Love transcends race. Some of my romance novels are interracial stories. Most of my Plain Jane Series falls into that category. I hope you give all my love stories, contemporary and paranormal, a chance.

Hello Readers,

I love creating characters of every color. My characters come to me fully formed, whether they are black or white. Love transcends race. Some of my romance novels are interracial stories. Most of my Plain Jane Series falls into that category. I hope you give all my love stories, contemporary and paranormal, a chance.

I'm hooked on anything Star Trek, House of Dragons, Yellowstone, and Stranger Things. I can't get enough of these shows!

I was born in St. Thomas USVI, but grew up in The Bronx, New York, one mile from Yankee Stadium. I love SyFy, the History channels, and Asian cuisine. But my heart and stomach longs for anything from the Caribbean.

Book #7 of the Plain Jane series is another explosive read of Syndicate complicated men being brought to their knees by women they never saw coming.
Leonid Markovich is one such man and when Sheridan Kincaid and her niece become entangled with this alpha male all bets are off.
I loved this expertly written, fast paced story with its action intensive narrative and characters who brought a complex at times relationship to steamy erotic life.
Fantastic story of family and love despite all obstacles!.

Plain Jane and Mr. Maybe is the seventh book in the Plain Jayne series. Like the other books in the series, the women are intelligent, strong, and courageous. Sheridan does not let us down. Real women can relate to the female characters as they are authentic, not physically perfect, and they all have something going on that represents a messed up life to some. The Syndicate members are the same throughout the series, with three brothers claiming a bride and another wedding on the horizon. As tough on love as he is, Bruno may be next.

Leonid sought and fantasized over Sheridan for far too long, and he made sure the reality met the fantasy. Leo is the most "real" character of the Syndicate Brothers, and his character is very relatable and beloved. With high drama, action, suspense, betrayals, and steamy romance, this book reads much quicker than its forty-plus chapters, and you will not want to put it down.

Plain Jane is a phenomenal series, and it is also very relatable and gives us real women hope. The characters build from one story to the next, which adds to the intrigue. This is a very entertaining series, and I can hardly wait until the next book.

I've read all the books in this series so far and each new one is better than the last. Beautiful, strong, independent women attracting strong, sexy, dangerous men. Sex that most women would die for. And surprises around every corner. Sheridan sold her soul to protect her soon-to-be-adopted daughter and men lost their lives because of her actions. Would the love of her life ever forgive her? Would the revenge get them all killed? As the saga of this Syndicate "family" continues, I can't wait to start the next book!!

    Leonid and Sheridan

    Lies and deceit

Leonid has been looking for Sheridan ever since they met during a shootout at his club. He accidentally finds her at a casino where she is gambling to earn money to save her brother Jamal from the cartel. Leonid wants to protect her but she wants nothing to do with him or the Syndicate until she is forced to get intel on them for the cartel. Lies; deceit; friends and family--this is one book that you will not put down.

I have never picked up a book from this author but was super intrigued by the blurb and opted to give it a chance, even though this was a bit on the longer side for me (I like my books around 300 pages or less). Holy goodness, I finished this up in one night because I could not this down, which usually I pace myself on longer novels. It's that engrossing- from the storyline to the plot twists with the smatterings of spice this book has it all. I loved Sheridan as a down on her luck woman trying to work, raise her niece and get her good for nothing brother out of a bad situation with the cartel. Who doesn't love a little card counting and winning at poker to do that? Enter Leonid, who literally sees right through all her defenses and doesn't give up no matter how she tries to push him away. There's also an overarching betraying plotline on multiple sides that makes the reader literally unable to stop reading the book until the very end. I should also mention that the secret star of the show, little niece Kennedy, is the best selling point of the story. And not to give any spoilers but there's a particularly epic scene where she punches a bad guy right in the crotch that made me laugh out loud....right in front of my family. This author is one I will absolutely be adding to my TBR in the future.

This author does it again. I almost feel guilty for how much I enjoyed this series and this story. It's different, definitely different because of Sheridan's motivations. But still well written and loaded with plenty of tension and the danger that you expect.
Sheridan wants no part of The Syndicate or the mob and their lifestyle. Too bad her brother Jamal just can't keep out of dangerous, outside the law trouble. He's going to cost her a lot more than just her fear which she has been neck deep in.
Her niece is only six years old but Kennedy has endured so much in her short amount of years. But she also brought smiles with some of her spunk when she wasn't being terrorized. Sheridan would do anything to protect her and that pretty much shows.
Leo, Leo, Leo what a guy you turned out to be. Bad to the bone, oh yes. Totally loyal to the "brothers" that he leads with the rest of The Syndicate, that's another yes. He's also been searching for Sheridan since he protected her at a shootout. Heck, he took a bullet for her without knowing her name. His attraction/semi obsession is real.
Jose, the cartel leader who murdered his father and brother so that he could be the power makes Sheridan's life a living hell. The actions that happen are edge of the seat as well as emotional. There is sexual heat that happens between Sheridan and Leo and it was going to happen sooner or later.
Everything ends well, with some people having an violent end. And follows up with a good Epilogue which I appreciated.

I received a advanced free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
