Blood Double (God Wars, Book 1) Kindle Edition
Eleven days. Eleven days it took, for me to become vampire. The beating had revived old nightmares and I only wished to die. I'd shaken my head and muttered no through lips so bloodied and swollen it was difficult to say the word. He'd asked me if I wanted to live. I said no. He asked me if I wanted to be strong and live forever. I said no again, with difficulty. "Wrong answer," he whispered and cut into my wrists.
In the beginning, the One created the Three. Only the One was more powerful than the Three. They were named Wisdom, Strength and Love. Those Three are more commonly known as the Mighty Mind, the Mighty Hand and the Mighty Heart.
Others were made, then, with varying degrees of power, who served under the One and the Three. The worlds were made, both Light and Dark, and those worlds were populated with all manner of races and creatures.
One day, the One and the Three discovered that a blight had infected their ranks. Some at many levels of power had banded together and turned against them, seeking to destroy what had been created. The Three were given the task of pursuing the rogues and finding a way to either turn them back to the light or eliminate them. The Three began to choose their armies carefully, as their duty was to seek out and right many wrongs in their pursuit of such pervasive evil.
The God Wars have begun.

Product description
About the Author
Reinvention/Reincarnation. Those words describe Connie best. She has worked as a janitor, a waitress, a mower of lawns and house cleaner, a clerk, secretary, teacher, bookseller and (finally) an author. The last occupation is the best one, because she sees it as a labor of love and therefore no labor at all. Connie has lived in Oklahoma all her life, with brief forays into other states for visits. She and her husband have been married for more years than she prefers to tell and together they have one son. After earning an MFA in Film Production and Animation from the University of Oklahoma, Connie taught courses in those subjects for a few years before taking a job as a manager for Borders. When she left the company in 2007, she fully intended to find a desk job somewhere. She found the job. And the desk. At home, writing.

another fabulous book!!!!
Reviewed in Canada on 10 June 2013Verified Purchase
As always Connie Suttle does not disappoint. This is the series to really tie together all the others. We get some new characters to know and love, but also to reconnect with others. I love how intertwined the characters and plots are. Things from previous series are revisited and begin to make more sense. Connie's books draw you in easily and I have loved everyone of them to the point of losing sleep just to continue reading (and I love my sleep). I would highly recommend reading the Blood Wager series as well as the Bumble, and Demon lost series as well before starting this book as it will bring more life to the past characters, although it could be read as is. I eagerly await more books from this talented author!

A-maz-ing again!!!

Connie's writing has never been anything but moving. I don't know where she comes up with these stories but I'm so glad that her muse is so strong.
In this book we have the start of the god wars. Our main character is Breanne. She begins her story shortly after being abducted from earth and placed in the palace on Le-Ath Veronis. Soon after starting her job, she is assaulted and almost beaten to death and is there by turned into an unwilling vampire. From that point on her story snowballs.
This promises to be an amazing series, with lots of adventure, snarky remarks, betraylal, and heartache.
I don't recommend reading this book as a starting point for a new reader. There are many other characters and a new reader will become lost with all of them. I believe it would be best to start with these series : blood destiny series Blood Wager (Blood Destiny #1) and Legend of the Ir'Indicti series Bumble (Legend of the Ir'Indicti #1) , and then read High Demon series Demon Lost (High Demon #1) (High Demon Series) Then you would have the back story for this new series. Trust me it will be worth it.

Brilliant read... could not put it down

What can I say, Connie has given me another sleepless night. This book is a fabulous read and I promise you won't be able to put it down. It took me on a journey and I immediately felt for Breanne the main character who is displaced from her life on Earth and dumped in the palace on Le-Ath Veronis to work for the queen. Beaten badly she is turned into a vampire and we are quickly immersed into the roller coaster that becomes her life.
If you are new to Connie's books I would recommend you start at the beginning with the Blood Destiny Series and get to know and love her characters right from the beginning.
Her series are:
Blood Destiny Series
Legend of the Ir'Indicti Series
High Demon Series
God War Series
I have loved each and every book and I am constantly waiting for the next book to be released, I can't recommend these books enough.
