Friday's Folly: A Christian Romance (A Sinclair Island Christian Horse Romance Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 35 ratings

Falling in love will destroy his dream of leaving the island. But can he stop himself?

Max is desperate to get off Sinclair Island and away from a dead-end job working for his widowed father.

Then he and his horse literally run into the feisty and attractive Camille.

Trouble is, she’s just begun a career on the very island he longs to escape from. He’ll have to fight his feelings for the pretty vet tech if he has any hope of starting life on the mainland.

Camille brings Friday’s Folly, her newly-rescued racehorse, to Sinclair Stables. She discovers that Max has valuable experience training Off Track Thoroughbreds, which she lacks, but she’s having a hard time getting him to thaw. His irreverence towards God also troubles her.

When his horse goes missing, Camille is able to help, and uses the opportunity to engage him in lively discussions. Max struggles hard to refute her arguments for God – and keep his emotional distance.

But when her prayers on his behalf are answered, he’s forced to rethink his position about God.

And about Camille.

Horses captivated Hilary as a seven-year-old. Decades later, they still do. When her father replaced the family television with a book allowance for her and her brother, he was hoping they’d buy the classics. Hilary bought books on horses.

Every spare moment was spent in the attic, losing herself in the enchanting worlds of Ruby Ferguson’s Jill Books and the complete series of Flicka by Mary O’Hara, among others. She also purchased multiple tomes on horse care and obsessed about owning a pony.

Hilary also managed to almost fail English in school – somewhat unusual training for a future best selling author.

Happily, her childhood dreams were realized, and she has owned many horses. Her current equine soulmate, Cruz Bay, is a homebred Thoroughbred Welsh Cob cross. She competes with him in dressage and aspires to joining The Century Club one day, where the combined ages of horse and owner add up to one hundred!

Hilary’s Christian faith was growing at the same time as her riding skills improved and she rediscovered the ultimate goal: getting to Heaven. Her writing combines the beauty of horses with the truth of the Gospel and she hopes her books will encourage readers to join her in striving for that goal.

A note for readers of her Catholic books: The traditional Latin Mass is not available where she lives, so Hilary attends the Novus Ordo Mass at her local parish church, which is blessed with three holy priests who celebrate it with reverent devotion.

The Sinclair Island series are genuinely good books. Lots of adventures, horses, romance, friendship, in an island setting that sounds like a dream. Glad there’s a fourth story in the works. Highly recommended reading!

This is a well written book that hooks you on the first page. It has action, drama and romance and will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. I loved this book and the series.

Good Christian romance with horses, a sweet dog, horse training, rustlers, an escaped dressage horse, problems along the main characters' journey to finding love. Really enjoyed it.

This was my first Hilary Walker book and I found it an enjoyable read. The characters were likable and lifelike. Although not a rider - or a particular horse fan - I appreciate her very knowledgeable approach to both. I look forward to reading more of her books.

I received an ARC of this book from the author, Hilary Walker, via Bookfunnel and this is my voluntary and honest review. I loved this book about a beautiful palomino horse named Friday's Folly and the love story of Camille and Max. They are both horse owners who met at the barn where they were boarding their horses. I could picture all the beautiful horses and the dressage moves that were explained in this book. Camille and Max started out on the wrong foot, but that quickly turned around over their love od horses. This book is a standalone but other couples from the first books in this Sinclair Island Romance series showed up in this book. Their presence was explained but it made you want to read the other books to get their love stories. I have read all of them and enjoyed them all. I highly recommend this book and all the books in this series, and look forward to the next book in the series.

This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.

Great story with action, romance, a bit of drama, and a HEA ending.
I loved spending more time with characters from the previous books in the Sinclair Island series, but this book could have stood on its own.

This is one of those stories where everyone else sees they love each other before they notice it.... one of my favorite tropes!
Of course, it's an overtly Christian story that features attending church and frequent praying.

Loved Camille and Max's story. I read this in a day. Stayed up half the night to finish reading, it was that good. Camille was just getting settled on the island, waiting for her horse to be delivered by ferry. Max had lived on the island his whole life and wanted to leave, but obligations kept him there. I laughed and fussed out loud through out this book at the things that happened to these two and their horses. If you like clean stories and love horse themes, I highly recommend 'Friday's Folly'. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.
