PLAIN JAYNE is a standalone read with a HEA. Any age could read and enjoy this story. There are no sex scenes as it takes this boy the whole story to come to realize what is right in front of him. I loved this story. It was my kind of romance. There are two people obviously meant for each other but they can't seem to get together. There was no violence, no bad guys, no drugs, no fights and anger. There is a bit of hidden feelings, misunderstandings, forgiveness, and fun. It was just perfect.

They were best friends in kindergarten. He comes to her rescue when she is feeling alone and scared and that was all it took for them to be best friends forever. That was part of the problem, he thought they were best friends and that was all they would ever be. After high school when she realizes that he will never really see her, she was too plain, too boring, just sad. So after high school she got on a bus and she left, never planning to return. But she did when she attended the funeral of his wife. But that did not go well. As she sees him, hugs him to offer comfort, his mother interprets it the wrong way and insist that Jayne be tossed from the funeral. She was. Again, it seems she was to blame for everything that goes wrong.

The next time she comes home she is there to clean up her grandmother's estate. The woman never liked her, kicked her out of the house when she graduated and never kept in touch with her after that so what could she have possibly left to a grandchild that she had always hated and tried to get her daughter to abort.

Now this is not a sad story, far from it, it is just what was at the time. The lawyers notified her she would need to come home for the reading of the will. What she finds out changes the course of her life. However, it was not what she expected but as always Nick was there to help her like best friends do. He also introduces her to his new girlfriend. Jayne is in for some life changing moments. This was the best story I have read in a long time. I usually average about 5 books a week so I do a lot of reading.

This story was modern day, it was a good love story, no one could complain about the sex scenes. There is a little colorful language but I would dare to guarantee it is nothing you have not said yourself or heard before and besides, when said, it fits the moment. I would definitely recommend the book. I thought it was great.

I think I’ve been suffering from PTSD brought about by the recent onslaught of so called romance novels that are actually erotica or porn in disguise. This author has restored my hope in romance, (where has she been?) beautifully written, believable. Funny, great depth. Loved it! Will keep an eye on her books from now on. Here’s to hoping she doesn’t succumb to the new craze that is now trashy romance

Ich muss gestehen, ich liebe diese Lovestories à la "wir sind schon ewig ineinander verliebt, haben uns aber nie getraut, den ersten Schritt zu wagen". Genau in diese Kategorie fällt auch Plain Jayne. Nick und Jayne sind beste Freunde, seit sie 5 Jahre alt waren, die Freundschaft hat jedoch einen kleinen Knacks erlitten, als Nick sie von der Beerdigung seiner Frau schmeißen musste. Jetzt ist sie zurück in der Stadt, da sie die Bücherei ihrer emotional kalten Großmutter geerbt hat. Die beiden kommen sich wieder näher, allerdings nicht ohne Probleme, denn Nick hat eine neue Freundin.
Ohne jetzt zu viel verraten zu wollen: Ja, es gibt ein Happyend, für wen bzw. mit wem - wer weiß?!
Ich fand das Buch toll, es war fesselnd geschrieben und ich hab es in einem Rutsch durchgelesen. Daher von mir eine absolute Leseempfehlung!
