Emily

Companionship is a good thing. Relationships are not.

I was raised to believe that happily ever after didn’t exist and that relationships were doomed before they even started. Life is uncomplicated and good as long as the attraction to someone is purely physical. I lived by that and was probably the only anti-relationship person in the world. I found myself amid so much man drama that I decided to take a hiatus from dating until I met the brutally handsome CEO of Caine Property Development & Management, Jackson Caine. He was as anti-relationship as I was and wanted to negotiate a deal that would let us have our cake and eat it too—a contract without any strings and drama. Until...

Jackson

I grew up in a world where I was taught that nothing lasts forever, compliments of my divorced parents. I saw and lived the destruction of each relationship my parents had, and it was something I never wanted. I was career-driven, successful, the boss of my own life, and as anti-relationship as possible. I’d had my fill of women and the drama that went with them until I met Emily Wade—a sinfully beautiful woman who understood and shared my thoughts. We were the perfect companions for each other—no complications, no drama, and certainly no commitment. We negotiated a deal that would suit both of us and as long as no one broke the rules set in place, we could both have our cake and eat it too. Until…

Honestly, some readers are just not nice. Is this Sandy's best work? No, IMO the Forever series is and is what won most of us over but so what?! It's very unfair to expect this author to give us a Forever book with every one she's written there after. It's so nice of her to every now and then throw in a character from the Forever series, often we'll get a snippet of someone we knew from a previous read (Wyatt, Liam, Connor, etc.). Were there errors, sure there were...should Sandy be crucified for it or be put through the ringer for it...of course not! At least she's working and releasing books constantly without taking back release dates or breaking promises and we have to appreciate that. One reviewer went off on grammar, typos, sentence structure and on and on she went about good wording but by who's standards and why? She even had the audacity to question if Sandy wrote the Forever Series...really?! That's low and uncalled for, look very carefully at the pattern in most of Sandy's books, she always has something happen to a character whether it be cancer, a neurological issue or an accident, always something. Personally I gave it only four stars because the sex scenes IMO weren't as good as some of her previous work, felt too rushed to me and kind of like a wham bam thank you mam every time but the story in itself I loved. Sandy always finds a way to pull at our heart strings and I respect that and appreciate her effort. I loved Jackson and Emily and took their relationship for what it was, light and fun. Have I enjoyed some of her other books more, yes but so what, I don't expect her to have best sellers with every new book she releases.

Cliffhanger, no. Threesomes, no. Cheating, no. Sexy, meh, not so much. Good, strong hero and heroine, yes. HEA, yes! Worth the read and money, yeah have you read anything that great lately? For every 20 books I read maybe one is good so this to me was refreshing. I can always count on Sandy to give me something above decent. I am not a friend of the author and was not asked for my opinion this is my honest review.

Just a couple of people who didn't believe in love and marriage. They decided that they wanted a friends with benefits relationship with a contract. Both of them had different experiences from their childhood and decided that they wanted just to have a sexual relationship. This story was absolutely brilliant and the chemistry between them were off the charts as a couple not wanting to be in love with each other. Quick page turning story. A spoiler, you'll will just to read this author's book to find out what happened to this couple. This author is wild about sexualized experiences in her writing. Sandi Lynn does a fantastic job in telling her stories. ENJOY!!!

For Emily Wade, fairytales were best left to books and Disney movies...Emily, was raised by her mother, who always said never fall in love...it never last, it changes people and you loose yourself in it and when it ends...and it will...you'll find that you lost the better part of yourself and you'll spend the rest of your life trying to discover who you were before.
Jackson Cain, successful business man and a believer of all relationships were a disaster. He witnessed his parents divorce when he was younger and watched his mother marry 4 times and his father 5 times, without regard for his feelings. Jackson, decided early on that marriage was never in the cards for him, so he would date a woman a couple of times and move on...NO Complications...
Jackson and Emily, meet at her boutique for the first time, both attracted to each other, but circumstances prevented them from moving forward. Second encounter with each other was at a wedding....they each came with separate people, fate not only placed them at the same table, but had them sitting next to each other, giving them the opportunity to spew their relationship hating ways to each other and making it one of the best evenings they spent in the company of the opposite sex in a while. Jackson felt relaxed with Emily, and Emily, felt everything was uncomplicated with Jackson. So the next step for them was simple...NEGOTIATE A CONTRACT
Can Jackson and Emily find love with one another or will the find completeness in the comfort of never feeling?

A bit of a spoiler is included.

This is my first book with this author, I believe. The book looked interesting. The grammar was less than desirable and basic. The book lacked substance. However, it was rated with 3 Stars because it passed the romance book test. Very few authors can achieve substance every book. I'll give this author one more try, but that's it if this type of book is the result.

Here's the synopsis in a few short sentences:

Girl meets rich guy. Girl is established and independent. Neither guy or girl wants a relationship. Girl and guy sign a contract agreeing to these rules. Guy wines and dines girl. Girl falls in love with guy. Girl breaks rules by falling in love. Okay sex occurs. Guy leaves about 85% into the book after girl falls in love. Tragedy happens. He's back. Girl is angry with him. Guy pushes to get back in her life. Girl forgives him, and then they're married.

    Pros
    Okay characters.
    Love scenes are okay.

    Cons
The conflict is rushed. The problem occurs and is resolved with 15% of the book left.
The book is predictable. It's typical romance and lacks substance with the characters.
The grammar is too wordy with very basic words as well.
    Typical attractive rich guy.

Good thing they came up with the ‘Contract’ so they kept seeing each other. Emily’s mother could have waited for Gregory to come home..such a waste of true love and scarred Emily. Finally after the one lady said the 10 years with her husband was worth it, so Jackson realized he loved Emily and couldn’t live without her.

Sandi Lynn sure knows how to write a book that couples great banter and humour with steamy scenes that drag you in and The Negotiation was no exception. I really enjoyed reading this book and was highly entertained and intrigued to see how Sandi Lynn would turn these two relationship haters into lovestruck believers. Their mantra:- Companionship is a good thing, Relationships are not. The best part was the hot and sexy ride these two go on. They were very disconnected but couldn't help the natural flow of their relationship.
Emily's mother completely ruined any chance that she believed in happily ever after or that there was "the one" for anyone. The opening chapter was very telling, we see Emily over the years observing her mothers obsession with companionship but not relationships. She grew up watching her mum go through a revolving door of men. At age 27 Emily is now a successful boutique owner and firmly believes she doesn't need a man to make her happy. That all fly's out the window when she meets Jackson Kane, wandering into her store seeking a present for his sister. A successful CEO who has the same views on relationships as her, their beliefs seem to fit perfectly - just like a business deal. Hence after a few very saucy hook-ups, they Negotiate a "companionship" deal. They set the rules and of course what could go wrong.... what could indeed! Great fun, enjoyable read. Another 5 stars.

Was passiert?
