LET ME Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 49 ratings

Fall in love with Zach and Jen in this emotionally thrilling, romantic suspense story.
Jennifer is familiar with the words ‘let down’. She’s learnt first-hand not to rely on anyone and she’s come to terms with the fact that her dream of becoming a wedding dress designer will never happen. Ever since her mother walked out when she was eighteen, and her father dying two years ago after drinking himself into an early grave, she’s had no other choice than to work all the hours God sends as a waitress.
Taking care of her teenage brother is paramount. Putting food on the table, clothes on their back, and a roof over their head, as well as making sure Joshua stays out of jail and away from the wrong kind, she’s had her hands full. Being his full-time guardian means he comes first, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. So, there’s no time to enjoy herself with friends and definitely no time for men.
Especially a certain man with hypnotic eyes, a gorgeous smile, and the ability to make her heart stutter when he says her name.
Zacharia Slater isn’t used to the word ‘no’. His job gives him stature and the private club he frequents, which he is part owner of, tends to his needs. So why, for the best part of a year, is he still pursuing the same woman?
When Zach attends an engagement party of a close colleague, he’s left revaluating what he wants from life. Jennifer, the raven-headed server with the icy blue eyes, playing a permanent part in it.
After she is attacked, left hospitalized, and in fear for her brother’s safety, will she accept the help from the man who will do anything to keep not just her but her brother safe? Or will she still be determined to push him away and go it alone?

A wonderful story of love and devotion. The prologue had me hooked and I couldn't wait to keep reading and see how the story unfolded. The characters were easy to fall in love with and I couldn't help but swoon over the way Zach took care of Jen. Though he was a Dom, the central plot wasn't around his lifestyle, like many books you find with this content. The intimate scenes were well done and showed how much they cared for each other. I also want to note how refreshing the take on the D/s relationship was in this novel. So many novels depict the "independent" woman that ultimately finds herself loving the sub lifestyle, but this story had the FMC never waver from being true to herself. Both characters were willing to compromise and find the life that fit them both. There were a few minor grammar issues, but nothing that took away from the story. Overall, a wonderful read full of suspense and love!

Overall, this book had a lot of action, intrigue and it moved. Tracey Gerrard has a great talent for keeping the reader engaged and guessing as to who the attacker was. In my opinion and due to my personal preference in reading a book, there were way too many graphic sex scenes that weren’t needed in relation to the story. Other than that, it was a great read!

I must say right away that the novel (or thriller) is very dynamic. There is a lot going on on every page. If fate does not allow the main character Jen to follow her dream, then the trials are pouring in one after another. She is very independent and relies only on herself. But when misfortune befalls her, she has to rely on Zach, her longtime admirer.
The characters are written so vividly and emotionally that you live with them all the hardships and feelings. This is a novel about love, responsibility and affection. And all this takes place against the backdrop of an exciting thriller with mortal dangers.
I highly recommend it to those who like dynamic emotional stories.

The writing style was something to get used to bur that's not necessarily a bad thing. Not every style is for everybody. I dug the storyline. Make no mistake, this woman has talent.

After getting around the steamy graphic sex scenes, the story of hope, endurance, and patience wins over. It was a strong love story that shows that even though you have a hard childhood or just growing up in hard times God will pull you through and set you on top of a high rock.
It was a nice mix of crime with romance with romance winning on top.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoyable read.

When Jennifer is brutally attacked and left unconscious by the man who had lured her teenage brother into crime a few years back, she fears his return will be to act out the threat he delivered when he was arrested and sent to jail. Little does she know there’s more than one reason for his return.
Knowing she’s never been able to rely on anyone but herself, Jennifer struggles to accept help from Zach the man who has pursued her for nearly a year. Although Jennifer is a strong woman, her trust issues run deep but through the story you get to witness how she lets Zach in and between her healing from her attack and the dangers, which lie ahead, a loving relationship grows.
The author has done a fantastic job with attention to detail. This story is well thought out and keeps you wanting to turn the page as the suspense builds. The romance scenes are hot and steamy but tastefully described. Highly recommended! A must read!

What a fantastic story Tracey has written. I have become her fan. The thrilling story has a surprise and suspense at every nook and corner. Zach is the dream man of may women and Jennifer has been sketched out as the ideal partner. Very intriguing story that you will not regret reading.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sweet but not enough suspense
Reviewed in Australia on October 26, 2023
I loved the beginning and how Jen and Josh had someone from the past lurking in the background, but there wasn't enough suspense for me. The ending was sweet, but there was far too much mollycoddling. It seemed everyone wanted to give their opinion on things that didn't need saying, starting with telling Josh to eat while Jen was in the hospital, this made it hard to connect with the characters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful Romance
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 22, 2025
I don't often dip into romance but this one caught my eye and had the extra edge of suspense, intrigue and action thrown in. I didn't mind the passion of the protagonists relationship and I really felt for Jen with the responsibilities to her brother that ultimately created the ordeal she was confronted with. I enjoyed the pace of the book and found the story engaging throughout. Excellent work 4.5 stars from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars An engaging romance
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 15, 2024
This well-written story is nicely paced, with enough suspense to keep you turning the pages. Jen, one-half of the two main protagonists, is a likeable character, and the author does a good job of portraying her spirit and resilience. Her strength is further shown in her battle-of-wills with Zach, a man who likes to be in control and sets his sights on her. My favourite element of the story was Jen’s touching relationship with her teenage brother, Joshua, for whom she’s mother, provider, and protector. If you enjoy romance, this is a book to curl up with.
