Stuntwoman-turned-actress Emily is looking forward to filming a movie in her home state, but doesn't expect to fall for rafting guide Tracen--and he has no intention of falling for a movie star.

(Though reviews are inherently subjective, I prefer to provide some organization to my opinions through the use of a personal rubric. The following notes may contain spoilers.)

Plot and Setting: 3.5 -- Plot mixes cliche/overly convenient with unique/interesting. I liked the filming-a-cheesy-movie aspect of the plot (especially since the characters laughed at the cheesiness, too). I also appreciated the contrast between Serena and Emily. But it's one of those romances where they fall deeply, quickly in love, then the relationship implodes, they are miserable, and then, with grand, cheesy gestures, all is well again. The ending is about as cheesy as the movie plot they laugh at. Setting is clear and believable. Timeline may be a bit hard to follow. We start in July, and then more than 3 days later, it's July 4th. Naturally. The timing of the epilogue is also unclear. Is it weeks later? Months later?

Characters: 4 -- Main characters are relatable, realistic, interesting, and dynamic. The emotional ups and downs for both Emily and Tracen were communicated well and generally fit their characters. I did get annoyed at the characters occasionally, but mostly in the way I'd be irked at a real person doing something stupid. So some decent realism there. Some minor characters have depth, while others may be slightly stereotyped or simplified. I rather liked Jor-El, and Howie and Honey had some depth, too. But also plenty of very stereotypical stock characters. Definite strong points in the relationships between characters.

Mechanics and Writing: 3.5 -- A handful of typos, but nothing that seriously hinders understanding. Mainly issues with capitalization and compound word usage. Plus formatting issues. Many, many words that are broken by a hyphen--necessary line breaks in the print version I'm sure, but it's irritating in the digital version. Similarly, there are places where a new line starts randomly, mid-paragraph. Generally solid use of POV (Emily and Tracen), with a few errors. A number of POV shifts involve confusing jumps back in time to rehash something we just saw from the other POV--which is a personal pet peeve. Generally skillful writing.

Redeeming Value: 4.5 -- Partially focused uplifting themes or lessons. I really liked Emily's Bible study focusing on water. Lots of interesting biblical tidbits and themes incorporated that way. Emily practices praying for God's help and guidance, though she has variable success in following through. Tracen has a set opinion of how his life should play out, and he learns to adjust his priorities and make some compromises for the sake of people he loves. Sex, alcohol, violence, etc, are not glorified at all. Some kissing, and the awkwardness of Emily needing to kiss a fellow actor for the movie right after sharing her first kisses with Tracen.

Personal Enjoyment: 3 -- I liked it. It was enjoyable and entertaining. I wouldn’t mind re-reading it someday, but it’s not a priority.

I can vividly remember this book though it’s been more than a decade since I read it. I loved the “Love Finds You In…” books and this was one of my favorites.
When I can remember so many details about the setting and plot for a book, when I have read so many hundreds since then, it is well written! What a great deal to be able to get a kindle copy for free right now!

Emily is Wonder Woman...yes, an actress on location in Sun Valley, Idaho, playing Wonder Woman. The plot has to do with Wonder Woman getting married in a raft, so a ruggedly handsome guide has to play an extra going down the river with them. However the guide has a thing against actors so, even though Emily seems to be attracted to him, he in no way shows any attraction to her.
Raft mishaps, hot springs and fishing trips, lengthy discussions about her "water" topic of study in the Bible pretty much change his prejudices against this particular actress.
The plot and the characters are fun, however the over use of her water themed study is off putting. Using those verses when the two of them at different times are in danger was a bit much. When you are facing being caught in your raft, drowning by gushing water shooting in your face like a fire hydrant, chances are you aren't going over verses about rivers and water...you're going to be focused on a struggle for your life and getting to safety. Over played. I get what the author was trying to do, and it was a good attempt, but it was just too much.
This book is better suited for teens and young adults.

This book was a little on the trite side. It was a sweet romance, a little heavy on the Christian themes with lots of references to Bible stories. But I think it is classified as Christian Romance, so that was to be expected. I have no real complaints. I enjoyed reading it.

Emily is short, determined, stubborn, a brilliant actress,
    and like the energizer bunny.

Tracen is a tall guy, a river guide, has ACHOO syndrome,
and running on an empty battery.

When a film crew arrives to shoot a movie by the river,
no one was looking for true love - or so they thought.
But will love prove stronger than their fears and individual dreams?
    Only time will tell....

Reviewed in Canada on October 15, 2016
Fun sweet read filled with characters of all ages. I really enjoyed the impact that Howie, Honey, Jal-El and Victoria had on Tracen and Emily's relationship. Each brought something unique to the story. There were many moments where I laughed at things said or done. I enjoyed how scripture was incorporated into the story and how the characters would discuss some of Jesus's miracles. The disagreement between the couple felt like a real disagreement couples encounter. I could understand both opinions, but I felt Tracen shut Emily out and wasn't even willing to listen to her side. I didn't like Serena when she first appeared, but I loved how she began the "open Tracen's eyes" confrontation with his friends. Each minor character brought something unique to the story. It was a enjoyable read overall.
