- Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2023I love everything that Suzanne Jenkins writes and the Greektown stories are incredible! I'm going to search for other books by this very talented author in my library as soon as I post this review.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2022This book is a good stand alone story. It is a fabulous addition to the Greektown Series. Ms Jenkins is a great storyteller. Her books are pure enjoyment to read. She has such great plotlines, interesting characters and an ability to tie it all together at the end; like tying a bow around a.present.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2022If you're a fan of Suzanne Jenkins' Greektown series, you'll enjoy this one, too. If you're not already a fan, take my advice and go back to the beginning, The Greeks of Beaubien Street, and start there.
No spoilers, do don't worry.
This book is lighter than some of the other Greektown books. Yes, there's a sad murder, a disgusting villain, an antagonistic defense attorney, moments that make you want to punch someone, but it's not as graphic as say, the original novel in the series, and there is, of course, a romance. It's Suzanne Jenkins, after all.
The entire extended family is on display in this book, and almost the entire focus is on Greektown, so for me that's a joy. Since Detroit's ethnic foods are part of my DNA and I've spent a good amount of time in Greektown, reading this book was like taking a stroll down Beaubien. I wish I could live in one of the apartments above the restaurants or stores.
The plot is fast moving and never bogged down. Suzanne allows her readers to get to know and react to the suspects quickly and then reveals more and more about them, like peeling back an onion, as the police investigate.
The ending was completely satisfying. Thanks again, Suzanne for a fun read.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2022I was so glad to get back to Greektown!
Things have changed a bit and there are some new family members to get acquainted with.
I loved all of the family interactions and the ups and downs of everyday life. And I especially loved how the family is growing.
There is a mixture of emotions intertwined along the way. Heartache and love and everything in between.
It’s a story that keeps you ensconced in another world.
I love the people of Greektown. ❤️❤️❤️
