When she's not shelving books in the library or reading other authors' works, Kathrine Willson is busy writing her own novels. Her latest book, The Price of Power, is the first book in her new series 'The Darington Files'. Her new crime fiction series is set in 1960s Los Angeles and takes the reader along for the ride with Capt. Justin Darington as he solves homicide cases throughout the city.

Her first series, A Tale from the Darkness, spawned from a broken wrist and the realization that the Phantom of the Opera never had his say, so she sat down and allowed him the chance to tell his own story.

You can find her on Facebook, Goodreads, Amazon.

So far this book is fantastic! It's somehow a mix of Gerald Butler and Ramin Karimloo! Proper in every way (just the way I've always imagined the Phantom) but also funny! If you read this book, you'll definitely be wanting more! Thank God there are 3 books (and another on the way!!!!)

Awesome Phan-fiction! I’ve been a Phan since the late 80’s, and now so is my teen daughter, (so we are jokingly protective of our Erik), and we loved this! We are so excited to read the next book!

I thought i had left a written review when I finished it, but apparently I hadn't. With that being said, i read this book over a year ago and the story has stuck with me since. Phantom of the Opera is not normally my jam, but the author made me a fan, not gonna lie. The writing was awesome and she sucked me in right from the start. This is the first book in the series and as soon as I had finished it, I purchased the others. Not something I normally do. If you enjoy good storytelling, you will not be disappointed in this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting retelling of the Phantom's story
Reviewed in Canada on August 5, 2024
I liked the story being told from the point of view of the Phantom of the Opera himself, with a few variations/additions that are quite plausible. This is the first of a series so can't wait to see where it goes!

1.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful tripe.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 26, 2025
There is nothing wrong with the writing itself...except the plot is so full of holes and ridiculous turns of events that it makes the story ludicrous, and unbelievable! Erik is unrecognizable from Leroux's protagonist. He is one dimensional and for me that made the book unreadable. I couldn't bear to finish it. Very disappointing purchase.

A very refreshing and entertaining take on the Phantom of the Opera, told in the first person by the phantom himself.
