The Beauty Room Kindle Edition
Keeping up appearances is everything in Edgerton, the Belgravia of Huddersfield. I mean, what would that rich, gossipy Dolly Bellfield have to say? And then there's that snooty, stuck-up mill owner's wife Gwendolyn Shaw and her spoilt daughter Geraldine. Oh, and not forgetting her naughty but nice boyfriend, the suave, delicious Charles.
The Beauty Room is a feel-good book full of humour, brimming with intrigue, and full of characters you'll adore. Enjoy this refreshing, charming, laugh-out-loud, coming-of-age story, it follows the life of Barbara Day a character from Grahame’s first book “The Dressing Room.” It begins at a glamorous, prestigious Beauty Awards Ceremony in London in 2002 and then goes back to 1950, where it all began for Barbara, working for the mysterious Madame Jacqueline Deveze at her Garbo salon in the wealthy Northern Textile Town of Huddersfield in England.
The book follows Barbara’s amusing journey as she tries to become a name in the beauty industry. Along the way, there are ongoing feuds, gossip, beaus, liaisons, relationships, fashions, hairstyles, lotions, potions, perfumes, and some of life's amusing foibles, as Barbara finds out there is much more to people, Huddersfield, and beauty than she ever imagined.
Please note this book is written in British English.

About the author

Welcome to my Amazon page. I was born in Huddersfield, in the North of England, and have lived there for most of my life.
I've always enjoyed writing, and since I retired, writing has become my full-time occupation. My book genres are fashion, humour, paranormal-supernatural-historical, fantasy, and cosy mysteries.
I don't write horror as such; my books tend to revolve more around history, the paranormal, hauntings, and the mysterious with some humour. My new book Jocasta Bradman Investigates The Strange Case Of Madame Irini is just out and is the fourth book in the series.
All my books are available worldwide on Amazon in both Kindle and paperback formats.
'Liking' my Grahame Peace Author page is the best way to hear news about my work and forthcoming books.
You can also find me on Facebook, Goodreads, X, and many other book sites.
Thanks for popping by.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely fabulous read
If you want some light reading that will transport you to a different and fabulous place, this is the book! Loved the characters and the amount of detail the author has included. If you like make-up and glamour, this has it all. Very enjoyable read. I'm off to read his other books now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting and a very enjoyable read
Really enjoyable read which did make me smile .... really uplifting and a must read book if you have read Grahames earlier book. ‘The Dressing Room ‘. I really hope there will be more books to follow based on the fashion and beauty industry that Grahame writes so well about.
It’s good to read a book which is based on my local Area too
