A Sleigh Ride For Georgia (Sleigh Ride) Kindle Edition
Abandoned as a child, Georgia knows first-hand the results of chasing rainbows, searching for the proverbial pot of gold. That same lure called her father to California, leaving her to grow up in a children’s home. Even though she knows that there is little value in depending on anyone but herself, buried in her heart is the dream of her own happily ever after – a husband and family. Desperate, she accepts the advice of her pastor and applies to a matchmaking agency. If only someone would look past her inadequacies and see her potential, she would devote herself to ensuring his happiness and love him wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, she is out of time.
“Who was it that said desperate times demand desperate measures? The Lord forgive me if I’m wrong, but the next letter I write, I’m omitting the fact that I limp.”
Livery owner Joshua Jenkins admittedly enjoys horses more than people. Since his father and stepmother’s premature death, his focus expanded to caring for his younger sisters. The last thing he needs is a wife. Unfortunately, his family thinks differently and interceded on his behalf.
"It was my family's idea to invite this woman to marry me under false pretenses. Now, they need to help get me out of this mess. I don't have time for romance. I'm sure not about to traipse around on a star-gazing sleigh ride. My sleighs are for renting out to the locals or hauling heavy loads. The only time I venture out in the winter at night is for an emergency."

- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2024This was a touching, and bittersweet story (but with a HEA) of a sweet young lady, who HAS to vacate the orphanage where she grew up and worked for several years, since the orphanage was running out of funds. She makes the decision to answer a mail order bride ad, but in the process, while loving the letters SO much, she omits telling the man that she limps: more specifically, she drags her foot. On the train ride out to him, she meets a generous older woman (not unlike a fairy godmother) who just happens to have a nephew who makes shoes and boots and the lady buys for her to get an everyday pair and a Sunday pair, with the exact right lift to make her feel like they are magical! When Georgia’s husband to be, and his ornery, hard-headed self sees her, and when he has to catch her from falling and feels how good it is to hold her in his arms-that Grinch-ish heart starts growing. You need to read about these genuinely human characters for yourself, and enjoy the well-spent time!! I loved it! I did receive an advance copy and this is my personal review! 🙏💖🤗

- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2024"When we share our God-given gifts with others we inspire hope."
Georgia could only "hope" her cooking skills could overcome her other challenges. Aging out of the orphanage and now the crowding with so many children, had left her applying to be a mail order bride.
Joshua was busy helping raise his siblings and did not feel he had time for a bride, just needed a housekeeper and cook. Thank goodness the Lord intervened!
Kimberly's stories always fill me with joy, how she weaves magic into her words, bringing two people together in God's time. I always want to be her heroine and live the life she creates.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2024This book held by attention from the very beginning. I enjoyed meeting Georgia’s friends and reading as they supported her in so many ways. I liked Joshua and his family. I liked that he wanted to do good and do what was right, but was too stubborn to see the truth sometimes. I enjoyed reading the problems they encountered, but also how they solved those problems. This is a great addition to the Sleigh Ride series.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2024Each of the stories in the new Sleigh Ride series will be stand-alone stories. They are clean, historical tales that will take place in various locations. They will also include wintertime activities, including sleigh rides.
The story is a mail-order bride tale of two people who must learn to navigate being strangers and finding happiness. Georgia Ann Green was abandoned at the Counting Stars Children’s Home when she was a small child by her uncle. She had broken her leg, he refused to pay a doctor, it never healed correctly, and he considered her useless. She has been staying at the orphanage as a cook for her room and board. Now, they are overwhelmed with too many children, and it is advised for her to seek marriage as a mail-order bride.
“I have faith that the Lord is preparing honorable husbands for us, who will take their marriage vows to love, honor, and protect seriously.”
Joshua Jenkins is a blacksmith and livery stable owner in Mills, North Dakota. After the death of his parents and a sister during an influenza outbreak, he is raising his two young sisters, along with his grandpa. He is talked into filling out an application for a mail-order bride—when he would be as happy to have a housekeeper and cook. He is so busy with the business and his responsibilities for his family, that he doesn’t have time to write, and only has one letter of correspondence with Miss Georgia Green of Tennessee. What a shock to learn that his family has stepped in on his behalf, and has been corresponding with her, exchanging pictures, and has sent her fund to come and marry him. But it isn’t just his family, it is his friends and people of town.
“The way I see it, you’ve been offered a gift—a beautiful young woman has agreed to travel across the country to be your bride. Her eagerness to help you raise your sisters tells me all I need to know about her heart.”
The story is definitely different and with humor at seeing how so many people are involved in seeing Joshua and Georgia get together. They all help, even making plans for the wedding. How would he explain to her that he wasn’t the one to write all the letters with poetry and adoration of love and devotion? How will Georgia react? Will his family make matters worse and cause hurt feelings? What will it take for Joshua and Georgia to move forward in their marriage and future?
- Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2024It's been quite some time since I've read a story that is completely unique, very well-written with such a compelling heroine and hero, and that's what Georgia and Joshua are. There were many wonderful characters that brought this couple together, making this an amazing story that sees them reach a beautiful HEA. Absolute joy to read!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2024This is a sweet and heartwarming story yet one filled with elements of human angst which include abandonment, a physical disability, and desperation as well as faith and romance. This is Georgia and Joshua's story, and the character development is excellent. Upon meeting, the couple are so different, yet similar, and have many obstacles to overcome. Will they find their HEA? Be sure and read this wonderful story to find out; it is a real page turner and you will not want to put it down once you start reading it until you have finished.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2024Georgia and Joshua's story is a heartwarming mail-order bride romance that holds your attention from the first page until the last. It's a wonderful read that I highly recommend.
