Crazy: A Prayer for the Dead Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 34 ratings

Based on his 2010 Truck Stop Hell short story, Steven LaChance delivers one of the scariest stories ever told with the frightening full-length version.

Crazy, A Prayer for the Dead, surrounds a group of misfits who find themselves stuck in their own version of Hell within an old truck stop on Route 66. Years later, paranormal investigators are brought to the location and end up uncovering the truth and horror of the souls damned within.

The book is based upon, and inspired by, an actual paranormal case led by Steven LaChance in 2006.

Steven LaChance weaves the one night of horror and its aftermath using historical fact, police reports, urban legend, actual psychic impressions and findings from the real life paranormal investigation. When put together, these elements profile a story which will terrify and haunt you long after you put it down. This is one you don't want to read in the dark alone. Sound crazy? Well maybe it is not that crazy after all.

What we do to others in this life does, and will, effect what happens to us in the afterlife. Hell is truly other people. And that is Crazy.

Great story. Love how Steven developed each character. I felt as if I knew each one of them! I started the book on a Tuesday night but I wish I had waited until the weekend-I didn't want to put it down (but I had to go to work the next day)! Each chapter made me want to continue. Very gripping. A haunted story at its best. Steven never fails to provide a great read-and he has done it again.

I get bored easily in the first few pages if they do not pique my interest. This is an easy and interesting read. I finished in a few nights. Now I have to try to hurry and go to sleep but I’m creeped out. Good luck!

I've read a lot of books recently and this one still is fresh in my mind. LaChance does a nice job of building the story around the characters and makes you feel for them. I wasn't really sure where the story was going to go in the middle of it, but it was wrapped up in a way that made you just contemplate and think about life as a whole.

An absolute gem! I had to force myself to put it down and take a break. Mesmerizing in the purest form. Amazing character development. ( I felt I knew each one personally) So far and beyond my favorite that Steven Lachance has written! I know the area that this work is about, or I thought I did. Makes me wonder what was going on there while I enjoyed the weekend buffets growing up. MORE MR. LACHANCE! GIVE US MORE!!

Steven has a way of writing that relates personally with the reader. Too many authors are self absorbed and need for the audience to look in from the outside, while Steven asks us to stand by his side. I appreciate and enjoy the dedication that is felt from stories like this. Steven is a humanitarian, and his journey along the way has been most trying. This book is definitely worth the read. Well done.
