About the authors
Virginia Crow is an award-winning Scottish author who grew up in Orkney and now lives in Caithness. She comes from a large family of writers and readers, and has been surrounded by books her whole life. Her favourite genres to write are fantasy and historical fiction, sometimes mixing the two together. She enjoys swashbuckling stories, her favourite book being The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas and she is still waiting for a screen adaption that lives up to it! Her academic passions are theology and history, her undergraduate degree in the former and her postgraduate degree in the latter, and aspects of these frequently appear within her writings.
When not writing, Virginia is usually to be found teaching music. She believes wholeheartedly in the power of music, especially as a tool of inspiration, and music is often playing when she writes. Her life is governed by two spaniels, Orlando and Jess, and she enjoys exploring the Caithness countryside with these canine sidekicks.
She loves cheese, music, and films, but hates mushrooms.
Ronan Beckman is an American educator who has lived in the UK for over 30 years. His interest in history and genealogy helped to spark an interest in further developing the stories of some of the family he researched - resulting in his debut novel 'An Actress of Repute'. Subsequently, he has become a bit obsessed with all things Georgian and Regency related. The latest adventures of Miss Searle can be found in the sequel 'Like Quicksilver', released at the end of January 2025. Further adventures are in the works for the character of Elizabeth Searle, so be sure to check back if you want more.
When she’s not pursuing research bunny trails, Danielle is reading. Her happy place is cozying up on the couch with her dog and a 19th-century gothic mystery novel, but you’ll also find her hiking and exploring ghost towns and forgotten graveyards. An avid photographer and language learner, Danielle finds it difficult not to see the story potential in every place or turn of phrase. Sometimes the muses are humorous, and sometimes they are dark, but they always come from an integral place.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Exciting and Moving Collection of Short Stories
This "crime and punishment" themed anthology features seven varied and refreshingly different stories. Each story contains a twist, as all good crime stories do, and it is a challenge to try and stay ahead of the plot and solve any mysteries before the characters.
