BOOK REVIEW:
This story is about a teenage mother, Megan, 14 and pregnant. A story of a thirty-nine year old woman, Tracy, already raising a large family, gives Megan a home. What would happen next, no one had a clue.
Tracy has no life of her own. She works the night shift at the hospital. Tracy Reynolds' life is not her. Her husband works the opposite shift. They have three boys and two girls and a Heinz fifty seven of rescued pets. Somehow Tracy and Tim have made an impossible situation work with love, faith and good, strong ethics.
When they added Megan and her newborn son to the group, it was supposed to be easy. But it wasn't. The adoption agency had made it sound so easy. Easy it wasn't.
Megan had a rough life. She never had the love and understanding that a stable family usually brings. Tim and Tracy fit the criteria perfectly and were rushed through the system. What was supposed to be so easy, turned really hard fast. Megan resisted everything from their family values to taking care of her son. She missed the people she knew when she had worked as a prostitute. The court put orders and probation warnings on her time after time, but Megan secretly hooked up with her old running buddies and her lover.
The family went in a tail spin, completely out of control. Hurricane Megan's destruction would touch everyone in one way or another. The Reynolds went through everything imaginable., deception, drugs, child abuse, sexual abuse, and home invasion. What more could happen? Would the Reynolds ever bee they same loving family they were? Could Megan be saved?

- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2024"Good Intentions" is full of emotions. It draws you into the life of Tracy, a woman with more love than logic, and Megan, a teenage hurricane of defiance. It's a constant push and pull, moments of grace slipping straight into painful reality.
Tracy's compassion is beautiful, but her decisions are sometimes so frustrating you want to scream. And Megan? She's heartbreaking and maddening - a broken kid trying to navigate a world that's already against her. The tension escalates, with victories so fragile they're shattered instantly. The final pages leave shaken and certain you've read something unforgettable.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2013This is a true to life story about a family of seven with parents who have a lot of love to give. The book revolves around a 14 year old girl who is both homeless and pregnant. The story is told through the eyes of the mother, Tracy Reynolds. The young pregnant teen named Megan has no family and no clue as to who her real mother was. She went from one foster home to another. No one wanted to adopt a troubled teen. Then she became pregnant. That is when she met Tracy Reynolds, a nurse at her hospital. Tracy fell in love with her at first sight and secretly wanted to adopt her and her future baby. The story goes on from there like a wild ride on a roller-coaster.
The day to day detailed story will keep your mind waiting for what's to happen next. I completed chapter 26 before I realized it was a book I was reading! The detailed description of what was occurring was like watching a movie in my mind. I think Vicki Taylor is an exceptional writer, and "Good Intentions" is a book anyone can read and enjoy. I learned a lot about what it's like to be a woman and to be pregnant as well! Something I know I will never experience in my lifetime! You will remain riveted to the book and always waiting for that shoe to fall. The shoe I'm talking about is Megan, the unpredictable one. Will she flip out? Will she run away from home? Will she get pregnant again? Will she leave her baby unattended? You just never know what to expect.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading. If you don't enjoy reading, you will once you pick up this book!
Sincerely,
Philip LoPresti

- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2013This is a quick read and that is a fine thing- since you can "kiss goodbye" anything else you had on your schedule. I had to offer a few apologies of my own for chores left undone, but curiosity trumped discipline. If you have a lick of street-smarts you see the train-wreck coming, but disembarking is not an option. You must stay onboard to see how it plays out, all the while shaking your head at the naivety of this kind family. Fortunately, Mama has pluck to go along with her oversized heart, and you do find yourself hoping for a miracle. If only good deeds went unpunished once in a while...
Flawlessly written and heartbreaking, you won't soon forget this story.
