I have been a writer of books and plays for over thirty years and becaome freelance in my twenties. Previously, I was a magazine journalist and then became a freelance writer for business organisations, writing corporate literature and special publications. I was the editor of several hobby magazines and then, when my children were little, I turned to writing books and plays. In 2007, my first Nathan Fox novel (Dangerous Times. A historical spy thriller for young adults) was published by MacMillan and was nominated for several awards internationally. The second book (Traitor's Gold) was also nominated for several awards. MacMillan then decided not to publish the series anymore, so I self published Nathan Fox:Seas of Blood to complete the trilogy, as fans of the books were asking for more. I was then commissioned to write the Mayfair 100 series for Mirror Books, but after Book 2, the company was absorbed into the Express Group and they decided not to publish fiction anymore. By this time the books had such a following that I self-published (under the Iris Books imprint) Books 3 and 4 and am currently writing Book 5. In between, I like to give my fiction head a rest and do some non-fiction - mostly about subjects I love, such as gardening, cookery and crafts. All four of my non-fiction books to date, Cook's Advent Challenge, The 100 year Old School Cookbook, Gifts From Your Garden and A Lady's Year have been very popular. My latest fiction endeavour is science fiction with The Salamander Option.
