'I make stuff and make stuff up for therapy,' says Sally Crosiar. 'And apparently, I need a LOT of therapy!'
Making Stuff Up - After a long career in youth development and health education where veracity mattered, Sally turned to fiction - after she'd already written two self-help and one children's book. Publishing her debut novel COME BACK (2017) cracked Sally's world wide open to whole new levels of fun.
She followed with HOME PLACE (2020) in which she mined memories of the family farm where she grew up as the setting and joyfully invented new characters with vastly different challenges than her own to inhabit a place she hasn't lived in years (but does still refer to as her own Home Place.)
A strong sense of place imbues all of Sally's writing. She thinks of the small town of COME BACK and the farm of HOME PLACE as characters. The same is true for Washington, DC in her third novel LOOK UP. Here she follows a minor but important character who appeared in COME BACK as she escapes her hometown for a slew of new big-city experiences and a life do-over the likes of which she never expected.
Making wearable art and reading stuff other author's made up occupy great swaths of Sally's time, as does playing in, on, and near the water in the Finger Lakes of New York State where she now resides.
