Shelby and Darius have been in a romantic relationship off and on since they were in grade school, but they have been around each other all their life, from grammar to college. But when Darius decided to join the Marines after his first year of college, their relationship took a turn for the worst, because Shelby went from seeing and talking to him everyday, to seeing him once a week and talking to him every other day. The decision that Darius made to join the Marines changed their relationship dramatically. It put them in a bad space physically, emotionally, and mentally and at the same time made it even harder to grow together. Having a healthy relationship would be more difficult since they were not around each other as much as they were used to. So this left Shelby no choice but to move on with her life, even though that was not what she wanted to do. She also couldn't sit back and wait on him to decide if the relationship is what he wanted or even if she was the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. So she did what was best for her and that was to live her life to the fullest. But in the process of her moving on with her life and living it the best way she knew how, she met a really nice guy that she eventually started to like more than she thought she would. The only problem she had with their relationship is that he shared a lot of the same qualities that Darius held. He was kind, caring, loving, a gentleman, goal orientated and not to mention really handsome. At times she found herself comparing the two every now and then. So one day while she was having lunch, she received a message from someone she had not spoken to in months... She played it cool but once he called and she heard his voice, everything changed. Her feelings of their past came back instantly...and at that point this became a Romantic War.
