This book is a prequel to Yes Sister, No Sister: My Life as a Trainee Nurse in 1950s Yorkshire. Like that book, Thank You, Sister is a memoir, written in first person and it describes my life from age six to age eighteen when I started training at Leeds Infirmary. World War Two broke out as I was nearing my sixth birthday and the time I set myself on fire. The memoir describes nearly two years in Stroud hospital, being a war child, living post-war in Leeds, enduring three skin grafts and finally living and recovering health in India.
