Book number 1, "They Called it the Incident" introduces Tara and her family. A continental disaster has left Northern Canada without any electrical or motorized devices. Telephones, cars, electric lights and anything with computers, have all been disabled. Not wanting to go with her parents to the farm, Tara runs away with Will, the town 'bad boy.' She soon finds that Will offers not an escape, but a trap. When her young friend, Bobby, disappears and the house they have been sheltering in burns to the ground, Tara must make a decision. Will she wait with Will and his gang, or will she flee into the B.C. wilderness?
