When Terrance moves to New York from North Carolina, he meets a beautiful young woman named Mattie. She becomes a real asset to him, showing him how to get around in the city, and becomes a good friend. It is not long before their friendship becomes more and Terrance falls deeply in love with Mattie. He believes they are on the same page with regards to where their relationship is headed. But when Terrance takes a second job and begins working longer hours, Mattie becomes volatile and accuses him of cheating. When Mattie becomes pregnant with twins, Terrance is ecstatic. All he has ever wanted was a family and initially believes his greatest dream is coming true. But Mattie feels differently about the pregnancy and becomes even more abusive towards Terrance. Will Terrance be able to convince her that she is the love of his life and everything he wants, or will Mattie chase him away forever?
