Book Description

Christmas for Victoria begins with Matthew Brock saying goodbye to John at the homeless shelter. Before leaving, there was a slight altercation between two people, and Matt helped break it up. The one was a frightened, dirty young woman with eyes so beautiful they impaled Matt and refused to release him. Shaken, Matt watches her leave the shelter, figuring never to see her again. Matt finds a nearly frozen body in his trailer as he arrives home from New York. The sheriff labels her as a Jane Doe as she is rushed to the ER. Matt recognizes her as the young woman from the shelter. Matt and his uncle Ab hold the vigil through the night to see if she will survive. Buffy stops in early to welcome her boyfriend Matt home, then leaves. This mysterious Jane Doe survives and has total memory loss. Matt begins the investigation of the Jane Doe. Matt labels her with the beautiful eyes of a lost lady with no memory. He also begins to investigate why his father left his family ten years ago, and no one has heard from him. He left without saying a word. Matt and the town always believed Matt’s father to be an honorable man. Even so, Lenard left, and no one knows why. Matt, his mother Jenny, and his brother Beau live on the Brock dairy farm. The Brocks have owned it for many generations. Matt’s anger over his father leaving almost caused him serious trouble in his youth. Sheriff Dean Rogers put the fear into Matt, took him under his wing, and guided him to become his deputy over the years. The dispatcher and the living soul of the sheriff’s office is Lori, a hard-hitting, no-nonsense free spirit that has Matt’s back. Also, her quick wit and hard humor always wins the day. She never married but has a thing for Matt’s uncle Ab. Matt’s uncle Ab, a great storyteller, and his aunt Martha are a happily married couple. They never had children. They considered Matt and Beau as their own, especially after Ab’s brother, Lenard, abandoned his family. They live on the farm next to the Brock farm. Ab was very close to Lenny and has a faint suspicion as to who might have made him leave. Ab did not believe Lenny would leave without a good reason. Ab’s desire is for his long-lost brother to come home. Ab helps Matt and gives him his thoughts on different matters. Matt has lost a lot, but Ab tells him that not everyone that loves you will leave you. Matt and his longtime girlfriend plan to marry soon, as everyone in the small town of Coldwater, New Hampshire, has known. Buffy comes from a well-to-do family. Her mother owns and operates the local high-class clothing store. Her father is Richard Hemmingway, who owns the one and only bank, and is the mayor of Clearwater. Matt’s investigations uncovers more than he has bargained for. Sheriff Dean makes Matt promise he will always do what is right no matter what and no matter who is involved. Can Matt and Uncle Ab help the family with an occasional bobsled ride with Ab’s team of shire horses? Taking in the beauty around them and remembering New England at Christmas? Will power, greed, and control win out? Will a long-lost father come home? Can a long-lost loved husband come home? Will the lost daughter be found? Or will the love of family overpower the darkness and set the true light of Christmas burning in each heart? Come and find out if Matt can put the pieces together and have a Christmas for Victoria.
