Book Description

When Karl slapped the newspaper on the table, Elaine read the date over his shoulder. October 12, 1940! How could that be? Only a short time ago she was in the year 2051, and now she was in a stranger’s house, having a meal with his family, and she didn’t know how she had gotten here. Elaine lowered her head and continued eating the meal they had offered her, but her mind was reeling with questions, and there was no one to ask. How had she ended up in 1940? Was it all just an illusion, a dream, or was she simply going crazy? In The Absconders, the fifth book in The Branches of Time, we find ourselves suddenly immersed in the life of Elaine Andrews who is living in the 1940s. Who is she and what does she have to do with our favorite people in this series, Skye Kent and Remington Hart? As the story weaves back and forth through various years, Cade, Skye’s brother, is able to resolve his dilemma in 1831, while Skye and Rem have struggles of their own in 1907, even though their passion for each other continues to grow. Follow along as loose ends are tied up and new threads are unraveled. Fans of Jane O’Brien’s bestselling series, A Slip in Time, won't want to miss this thrilling spinoff, Branches of Time and its fifth installment, The Absconders.
