Amy K. Lauver was born February 11, 1988, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Despite showing promise in the sport of soccer, she put aside athletics and focused her dreams on writing and digital art. She earned a degree in graphic art, graduating second in her class. Her characters, new worlds, future city scapes, and dark landscapes exhibit extraordinary originality and imagination and inspires her writing. The background art for the book cover was created by Lauver, upon which the publisher's artists melded the title, author's name, and text design. She attributes her interest in writing to her parents, Fred and Carol Lauver, who are published writers.
