BJ Wane
BIOGRAPHY

I live in the Midwest with my husband and our Goldendoodle. I love dogs, enjoy spending time with my daughter, grandchildren, reading and working puzzles. We have traveled extensively throughout the states, Canada and just once overseas, but I now much prefer being homebody. I worked for a while writing articles for a local magazine but soon found my interest in writing for myself peaking. My first book was strictly spanking erotica, but I slowly evolved to writing steamy romance with a touch of suspense. My favorite genre to read is suspense.

BJ Wane Interview On 06, Apr 2021

"BJ Wane has been writing erotic spanking romances for nine years. Her husband’s aunt gave her one of those historical bodice-rippers romances for something to do and she was hooked. BJ always has a great story to go along with the BDSM. She loves dogs and enjoys reading and working on puzzles."
What was your childhood like? Tell us your fondest memory?

I grew up a military brat – my dad was a fighter pilot in the Air Force. At the time, I didn’t appreciate moving a lot, but now I realize how lucky I was to have lived and traveled so extensively. Two of my fondest memories are when we were overseas. I started school in Tripoli, Africa and got to ride a camel while we lived there. We went on vacation touring Europe during that time and I can still remember the bullfights (sad) in Spain and the entire miniature village in Holland.

What got you interested in contemporary romance?

While laid up at home recovering from a car accident, my husband’s aunt gave me one of those historical bodice-rippers romances for something to do and I was hooked. After that, my craving for books covered almost every genre, my favorites romance and mystery.

What was the first story you ever wrote and did you ever publish it?

The very first one was a romance, before I got interested in titles with more erotic content, and no, I never published that one.

What is the best thing about living in the Midwest?

The four distinct seasons and a lot fewer people than on the coasts.

Who have you loved the most: a human being or a pet?

As much as I love my dogs, it doesn’t compare to what I feel for my wonderful family – they are everything to me.

What's the most fun way you spend time with your grandchildren?

In the summer, outside in the pool. They love swimming, and it’s a joy to see them having so much fun away from the television and computers.

Having traveled extensively throughout the states, what have been some of your best experiences?

Taking the kids to Virginia Beach and Padre Island where they went parasailing, to New Mexico where they took ATV’s into the mountains, the lake in Missouri where they got to sing to the entire river boat guests, Niagara Falls where we all got drenched! One of our favorite trips was to visit Solman’s Island in Maryland where our friends took us out on their boat and the girls went crabbing. My daughter had a pen pal who lived near D.C. and they got a chance to meet at the zoo there. And, of course, Disney World!

Who inspired the character of Tamara Barton in "Submitting to the Cowboy"?

No one, but I had to have extensive physical therapy following my car accident and thought a physical therapist would make a good character for Connor after he was injured.

Which book from the Cowboy Doms Collection took the longest to write?

The last one as I was dealing with some pain issues and was unable to write as fast.

Who was the first person you shared your first ever story with?

My husband, who is now my writing partner.

How did you evolve from strictly spanking erotica to writing steamy romance with a touch of suspense?

I soon got bored writing books heavy with sex scenes but light in actual story. After all, there’s only so many ways to ‘do it’, right? And, suspense is my favorite genre and provides more of a challenge as a writer.

What is the best suspense story you have read?

Hands down, Bloodline by Sydney Sheldon – great book!

What was it your little one said that left you speechless?

The last words my oldest daughter said to me before she died of a brain aneurysm – I love you.

Is there anything new that you're working on? When can we expect the next book to come out?

My new series, Doms of Mountain Bend, starts with Protector, which will be released March 31 st .
