  - I do read the reviews. When I get a bad one I try to learn from it. You can't let yourself down on a bad review. People have different tastes, but if there is a glaring problem, you might need to take a hard look at it.

  - I have always had an active imagination. I have created stories since I was a kid. Now after retiring from the Air Force, I have had more time to focus on writing.

- Have you ever incorporated something that happened to you in real life into your novels?

  - Yes, I have. The best example comes in the Prologue of my first book. There is a scene in which Captain Stollar is talking to his children through a video chat and his youngest daughter refuses to come to the screen to talk to him. This was taken from real life. When I was deployed to Afghanistan and I would Skype with my family, my youngest daughter would refuse to talk to me sometimes. I thought it would be something I could add to this book for these characters.
