Where were you born, and what was your childhood like?
I was born in Cleveland, Tennessee. Moved to Georgia at a young age and was raised by my mother and stepfather. Overall my childhood was good.
As a teenager, what were you obsessed with?
Girls, playing drums, and writing music.
Are you an avid reader? What do you do when you find it hard to read?
I enjoy reading How to Books, I'm always searching for how to improve myself and learn how to accomplish things. I have a lot of different hobbies that I can bounce between that way I can keep things fresh and keep the creativity flowing.
What’s the most amount of books you’ve read by a single author?
When it comes to reading fiction books I'm too sporadic. I will read four or more different books at the same time.
What inspired you to start writing Curse of Crowns series?
I originally was trying to come up with a concept for a video game for my friends that are computer programmers. Since none of them wanted to work on starting a company, I didn't want to waste the idea I had so I turned it into a novel series instead.
What is the single biggest factor that influenced you to start writing fantasy?
After not wanting to let a video game concept go to waste, I started looking for ideas and ways to make my concept into something more. I thought about making a comic book, then maybe a novella, and as things started to pick up it kept growing and now it's a long novel series.
Is there more to writing a great book than just a great idea?
There's a lot that goes into writing a book and making it great. The list is long and the road is hard. To me, the most important thing is acting on the idea. If an idea is not acted upon, then you will never know the success and impact it could have.
How much do you write per day?
I usually write at least one full page a day. Sometimes I can write up to ten pages in a day.
In how many days did you finish writing, Curse of Crowns: Kings Transcend?
Once I decided to turn my concept into a novel, I spent a lot of hours researching about writing and more so actually writing. I thought I would write one novel and be done but it kept growing and turned into a series that I have been working on for about ten years now. The novel had fifteen chapters and so much so that I divided each chapter into its standalone novel.
How did you build a fantasy world in the novel, Curse Of Crowns Blood You Will Taste? What details about society and common people did you emphasize?
Blood You Will Taste is the second novel in the series and picks up where book one leaves off. One of the ideas that came to me while writing extends from childhood. I used to look up at the stars and wonder about the planets and if there were species living on them and what they were like and what would happen if they could travel between each other and how would they respond to another species showing up in their territory. Throughout my series, I explore the concept of those fictional characters that I made up of eventually colliding.
When you encounter a poorly written book, do you keep reading anyway?
Yes, I feel there is always something to learn no matter how poorly or well a book is written. All writers have to start somewhere just like with any other profession. To me it's about learning, growing, and becoming better. I saw a book where the author didn't edit or format their book, which I highly recommend for any author to do so. With that said, I had no idea about formatting when I first started writing. I looked at different novels before releasing mine and asked myself how did that author get their book to look like that? It wasn't until I googled things to know before printing a novel that I learned about formatting. I still have to get someone else to check my formatting.
Is it important to preserve literature? Why?
Yes, we can all learn from literature so we don't repeat dooming things. I also believe in freedom of speech and expression for all individuals no matter what it is.
According to you, what is the most difficult genre of fiction to write?
So far, I have only written in fantasy fiction so I don't know the struggles of writing in other genres.
Which is the next book you are writing? Give us an insight into it.
My next novel is the third volume in the Curse of Crowns series titled Through Devils Eye. It's bigger than the first and second volumes and is packed with action, and mystery, and raises the stakes for all the characters. It picks up where book two left off and takes the reader on a journey with returning characters and with new ones as they face battles, control, invasion, death, life, and much more.
How has your experience of being associated with AllAuthor been?
So far the experience has been great, the post are nicely done, and I'm happy to be interviewing with them. Maybe in the future, there could be video interviews. I'm sure other authors would enjoy that as well. Thanks for everything that has been done and keep up the great work.
