BIOGRAPHY

I am a fulltime epic fantasy and sci-fi Indie author living in South Africa, and I dabble in other genres when the fancy takes me. I have been writing fulltime since 2009.

I am also a professional actress, playwright, and choreographer, and coming from a 37-year professional dance and teaching career, I give ballet classes to ex-professional dancers and coach young students for ballet exams and competitions.

      • There are no rules! That's why I love both genres. Sci-fi of course does sometimes have scientifically based rules, but I tend not to get into it too heavily. Epic fantasy also takes A LOT of outlining, although I am mostly a pantser.

      • Yes. Most of my stories came to me in a dream, and I tend towards the supernatural/paranormal side of things. I am open-minded when it comes to the mysteries of life and with my wild imagination I take things to places and situations I wish were real.
        My Sword Bearers epic fantasy series was inspired by Star Wars when I was eight years old.

      • Keeping all my ducks in a row!!! First drafts tend to be a bit chaotic, so it's during the many rewrites that I straighten out continuity errors and plot holes, etc.

      • I have always been a storyteller. It was the hundreds of books and comic books I read as a kid before television came to my country. Thanks to my mom, who was also a voracious reader, I fell in love with stories early on and so writing my own was a natural evolution. I've been writing fulltime since 2009.

      • Reading and writing. A LOT!!! You learn so much from other authors - the good AND the bad. It helps me hone my own style and technique and I notice the bad habits I have and then I eliminate them. I'm a much better writer now than I was when I started and that came from doing it every day and being open to criticism and advice from people you trust and also what reviewers have to say.
