She and her husband share their home in Eastern Canada with a collection of multi-colored cats."
Where were you born? Since how long have you been living in Eastern Canada?

I was born here in Eastern Canada and have lived here my whole life. I love it, even in the winter when it gets snowy and cold.

Did you ever dream of becoming an author? What were your dreams during childhood?

I've always really enjoyed writing, and I remember writing my first short story when I was in grade two about snowmen who came to life. I'm pretty sure I still have it somewhere. During my childhood though, I had many different dreams for when I grew up, including becoming a teacher, a professional horseback rider, a veterinarian, and an actor!

How did you begin your journey as a short story author and novelist?

I started out writing online on the platform Wattpad. It was there that I found a really welcoming writing community and developed the skills I needed to move forward with my desire to write full length books and have them published. Everyone was so supportive and helpful, and it definitely made the process easier knowing that there are people who are there cheering you on!

Why did you choose to primarily focus on contemporary teen fiction?

It just seemed to be the genre and age group that connected with me the most. I had tried writing for adults, including short romances, but I didn't feel as connected to that work as I did when writing for young adults.

In what ways do you think a variety of educational programs has helped you to hone your skills?

I think it's always helpful to have different areas of knowledge when writing, and learning through different programs has given me the opportunity to learn new things and apply them to my stories. In addition, I was exposed to different writing styles and projects that assisted me in learning where my interests are.

Since how long have you been working as a technical writer for a global manufacturer?

I've been a technical writer for approximately two years. I really enjoy the job!

How did you come up with the story of Forever Summer?

Forever Summer was inspired by the work of Sarah Dessen and the relationship in her book Dreamland. I wanted to try to cover that kind of relationship from a healing perspective and explore what it meant to process the relevant emotions.

Who inspired the character of Morrigan Westhaver?

There wasn't really anyone in particular. She sort of developed as her own character outside of any external inspiration.

How do you decide the names, appearance, characteristics, etc, of your characters?

Usually they just come organically. I try my best not to overthink but it can be very difficult to select something like a name when there are so many options! I have a list that I keep of names I hear that I like, and often I'll pick one I've archived. I also work hard to include many different appearances and characteristics for my different characters.

What is the toughest criticism you've ever received? What was the best?

When I was writing my first book, I had a critique partner tell me that nobody would ever pay money to read my work and that I should just stick to writing for free because my stories weren't really that important. It's always stuck with me even though it's been years since he told me that. However, I try to focus on constructive criticism and positive notes where I can - like the individual who recently reviewed my book and said it was unexpected, atmospheric, and lovely to read.

What's the most spontaneous thing you've ever done?

That's a tough one! I'm not overly spontaneous. I usually like to plan things out and organize them before I take the plunge into anything unknown.

What is something that people don’t usually know about being an author?

It's not as glamorous as it sounds! There are lots of long hours by yourself thinking and researching and typing away. It can be very isolating!

Are you working on anything currently? If so, what is it about?

I'm currently working on several new books - some young adult fiction, as well as some new adult fantasy romance under a pen name. Stay tuned for more details!

What advice would you give to new and aspiring authors?

Don't give up and read a lot. Perseverance is important, and so is finding a community to support you and your goals.

How were you first introduced to AllAuthor? Do you have any feedback?

Another author suggested it to me and I thought I would check it out. It's been a great resource!
