BIOGRAPHY

Rae Theodore works as an editor for one of the world's largest communications firms. When she's not working, she writes about her life as a butch lesbian and her thirty-year crush on Olivia Newton-John. As a young tomboy, Rae rarely identified with the characters in the books she read, and this has motivated her to tell her story.

Rae's stories and poems have appeared in numerous publications, including Our Happy Hours: LGBT Voices from the Gay Bars, Sister Wisdom and Gender Queer: Stories from the Rest of Us. Her first book, Leaving Normal: Adventures in Gender, was shortlisted for an award in creative nonfiction by the Golden Crown Literary Society.

Rae's favorite day of the week is Tuesday because that's when her writing group meets. In addition to Olivia Newton-John, she is obsessed with Wonder Woman, professional wrestling and the mullet she sported circa 1986. You can read about her adventures in gender nonconformity and her awesome mullet on The Flannel Files at middleagebutch.wordpress.com.

Rae is the current president of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Women's National Book Association. She lives in Royersford, Pennsylvania, with her wife, children and cats and is working on a book about love.
