Where have you spent most of your childhood?
In China. I was born and grew up in Southern China where I spent most of my childhood. I moved to the US in 2008 where I met my husband, Les.
How did you discover your passion for writing?
I discovered my passion for writing through reading books. I have done a lot of reading in the past, and I get a lot of inspiration through reading.
How has a degree in Bachelor of English Education helped you in your writing career?
I have two bachelor’s degrees. The other one is Organizational Leadership. Both of my degrees helped me with my writing career because they helped me understand the importance of knowledge sharing, and the value to bring to people and community.
What developed your interest in cooking?
I started cooking when I was 5 or 6 years old. At that time, it was due to my family environment that I had to cook for my whole family. Slowly, I fell in love with cooking because I wanted my family and myself to stay healthy and fit.
What are the most important characteristics of a good leadership coach?
The most important characteristics of a good leadership coach are communication skills, patience, and listening skills. Of course they also need to have expertise and have deep knowledge on the subject.
How much did you research while writing your book, Leading High Performing Contact Centers and Teams?
I did quite some research while writing this book, which was all at the reference page. Most of the content were from my own professional experience and expertise.
How long did it take you actually sit down and start writing your first business book?
It took me over 6 months.
In what ways do you think your book, Leading High Performing Contact Centers and Teams will help its intended readers?
This book can help the readers to apply leadership concepts and philosophies to their real work setting. There are examples in the book that make those concepts easy to understand. The language of this book is also pretty easy to understand. Modern leaders need to know how to lead effectively so they not only bring profit to the organization, but also bring value to the people that they lead.
What is your strategy for writing a business book?
The strategy is first you have to know the topic very deeply, meaning that the author has to be credible. Then, you have to know how to write in a book that is easy to understand for the reader, such as what languages to use, adding examples and stories to help understand the concepts.
What is your favorite book that inspired you?
John Maxwell's 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.
Since how long have you been a National Board member of NACSMA? What has this experience taught you?
I have been a board member since Nov 2022. The experience at NACSMA has taught me marketing and decision-making skills. The experience at MACSMA also taught me leadership skills that how to interact with members and bring the most to the members.
Do you have a garden of your own? Do you grow fruits and vegetables there?
I do have my own garden, and I only grow vegetables since we do eat a lot of vegetables in our family. I have not had much luck with growing fruits for whatever reason. Maybe it is because it is too hot here in AZ.
What is one thing about you that many wouldn't guess when they first met you?
It would be that I used to play basketball in the middle school.
Are there any books you're working on that you want to share with the world in the near future?
Not at the moment, but I do plan to write my 2nd book in a few years.
Lastly, how do you usually promote or market your books? How helpful has AllAuthor been to you so far and would you recommend it to your other author friends?
Honestly, I have not done a lot of marketing and promoting my book. I wish I could have done more. So far, I have done it through the NACSMA, my LinkedIn page and a couple other websites. I will definitely recommend AllAuthor to other authors. I like AllAuthor’s dedication to the authors. They do everything they can to help the author to be successful with their book selling.
