BIOGRAPHY

About the author.
Simon Morrell is an award-winning author and one of the United Kingdom’s highest graded and well-known Martial Arts instructors.

However, his life wasn’t always this way and in fact, he seemed from a very early age to be doomed to a life filled with failure.

A victim of bullies since the age of five, the misery quickly turned into violent assaults as he grew into adulthood. He developed agoraphobia and panic attacks with the mere thought of leaving his house bringing massive anxiety.

Unable to develop any kind of backbone, all that changed when he met his sweetheart Julie (who he is now married to) and she encouraged him to develop courage, which he did through taking up Karate.

The six months he gave himself in the dojo extended itself and now he finds himself in his fortieth year in combat Systems, having fought throughout the land at every range possible.

He puts his experiences into his growing library of books and is currently working on a novel, ‘I,Bully’ loosely based on his past.

      • Geoff Thompson of Watch My Back fame. Geoff was my hero who became avery close friend and was the one who encouraged me to tie my story. We have both been through so much adversity and lived to tell the tale and dare I say without being a braggart? Excelled at our chosen fields well beyond our (or others for that matter) expectations.

      • Probably this is typical but a New York Times bestseller and one the shelves of Barnes& Noble and Waterstones. An absolute dream I am working hard toward.

      • They certainly make reading more accessible. When I grew up you ordered you chosen book from the local book shop and waited for two weeks for it to come it in. Now I can see or think about a book I want and literally have it to read in minutes. This surely is a good thing for writers and readers alike.

      • Yes, my forthcoming novel 'I,Bully' certainly contains scenes and moments from the terror I get as a young kid getting beaten and verbally abused everyday. The main character, Dominic Yates,a brutal alcoholic skinhead is very much inspired by a person from my past.

      • Write your body, your main bones of your book when you are and fresh and inspired but when not, when you just don't 'feel it' don't be afraid to give it a miss but this is the important part; whatever you are feeling, if an idea or concept forms in you head get it don on paper even if it is rough notes or keywords.

      • Very honoured and a bit cheesy but flattered and proud. Plus I like to wind my kids up that their dad has been recognised. Their groans and urges inspire me (ha ha).
