Suzanne Cottrell, an outdoor enthusiast and retired teacher, lives with her husband and one rescued dog in rural Piedmont North Carolina. She enjoys reading, writing, knitting, hiking, Pilates, Tai Chi, and yoga. She loves nature's sensory stimuli that provides inspiration for her writing of free verse poetry, personal narratives, and flash fiction. Her work has appeared in over forty-five journals and anthologies. She's the author of two poetry chapbooks: Gifts of the Seasons, Autumn and Winter and Gifts of the Seasons, Spring and Summer.

      • Although I've been dabbling with pen to paper most of my life and enjoying writing and sending letters to family and friends, I didn't start submitting my writing until the spring of 2016. Having more available time since retiring, I took a writing class at the local senior center. My instructor asked me why I wasn't doing something with my writing. I wrote primarily for my pleasure and hadn't considered putting my writing out there for other folks to read. I decided to give it a try. My first publication was a 25-word micro fiction piece in Nailpolish Stories, A Tiny and Colorful Literary Journal. Most of my free verse poetry, personal narratives, and flash fiction stories revolve around nature. I'm an outdoor enthusiast.
