Preserving Peace in Our Family is a multipurpose book:
- A poetry book dedicated to family members
First, the author brilliantly uses poetry to share some memorable events that happened in her family since her childhood. On one hand, these poems reinforce positive behaviors of family members and highlight family values such as appreciation and gratitude. Thus, peace is preserved, joy is deepened, and love is strengthened in the family.
On the other hand, page after page, parents, siblings and other family members across the world relate to the family members depicted in this book and understand the impact of their own daily actions and the power of their example from a child’s perspective. In the concluding part of this book, the author makes some relevant recommendations to any family member regardless of race, culture, religion or age.
This is a must-have in every family library!
- An innovative language resource for teaching or learning English, French or both.
Second, both unilingual (English or French) and bilingual (English and French) learners will find this book very practical for expanding their vocabulary in the two languages while practicing the reading and comprehension of poems based on a true family story.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2021Adrienne has crafted lyrical poems in a dual-language edition, French and English. Each poem is hewn from rich deep veins of faith and family. From the first poem, O King of Kings (O Roi Des Rois)" O King of Kings! You who are "Holy, Holy, Holy!" /You give us bread/and we are blessed! /For all the good things /You do for families/We thank You wholeheartedly." She gives portraits of her blessed grandparents: "People of prayer/Exceptional blue-collar workers/Extraordinary field laborers/very precious people/I am very proud of you!" Both parents are praised, as well as her sister Virginie, and her brothers Tony and Joel. Her spouse is extolled, and she wishes her family, as well as the family of the world, to preserve peace. Read, ponder (in two languages if you are fortunate), and be touched deeply by Preserving Peace in Our Family.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2021The author’s Joy leaps forth from the pages and I found myself smiling whilst reading these poems of love to her family. Her bond with them is clear as is her relationship with God. I’m more spiritual than religious but her gratitude is contagious.
This would be a lovely gift for a family member or dear friend. Being written in both English and French is an added highlight.

My favourite poem was "Childhood Joys" which brought back fond memories of my own childhood and a renewed appreciation of the simple things in life.
It was a pleasure to read this collection of poems.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2021I come from a broken Roman Catholic home. The simple words, and poetry conveyed, for me, a resonant nostalgia for the sweetness that can be found from our family, God and Jesus. I actually had some healing emotional moments reading this work! This is a special little book written by a special writer!

This short and sweet book is a reminder to show gratitude for your family, especially if you have been blessed with loving family members. It can also make a nice gift for your mother, father, grandparents, siblings and so on. I am fluent in both English and French and I really enjoyed reading the poems in both languages.
