Adam in Taoland
Dreaming Dreams I
Humanoid robots made life meaningless.
Death is the only choice.
Until it isn’t.
In the 4th Millennium, a twenty-year-old Adam finds himself dejected with his life of endless monotony under the oppressive rule of the Plakerols in his homeland, Novana. His people suffer under AI domination, existing on ‘free stuff’ – but with no purpose. The Plakerols have destroyed all things natural and stripped Novanians of every characteristic that makes them uniquely human.
On the brink of self-destruction, he is presented with the choice of leaving the utter nothingness of Novana with the chance at a better future. He grapples with the decision of trusting his fate to the promises of a newcomer he’s never met, or accepting his tortured existence in Novana. One decision will see him thrown into a web of romance, corporate power struggles, and corruption.
Throughout his thirty-year journey of self-discovery with his wife and soul-mate Tariana — on the three moons of the magical, rogue planet of Tao – Adam navigates a fantastic new world of gurus, creatures, and conflict with dangers lurking around every corner.
In his obsessive quest for power and position, Adam seeks false purpose as he struggles to find balance in the irreconcilable demands of his professional and personal life.
Everything changes when Adam, on the edge of an abyss of emptiness, escapes death’s clutches. He finds himself answering to a higher calling.
Life has new meaning.
Happiness is within his grasp – but can he grab hold before he loses everything?

- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2022Praise for Jack Tymann’s Adam in Taoland- an engaging book set in the future that seamlessly brings the reader to their current self.
The story upholds the potential of the human spirit and demonstrates the power that love has when given selflessly, time and time again. It brings the reader to the three different Moons of the planet of Tao movingly and passionately. The chapters, text complexity, and length of the book make this an enjoyable read for readers who don't usually engage in the science fiction/fantasy genre.
This book is more than a story about searching for meaning in one’s life. The author skillfully draws you into the story, where you become Adam feeling all of his emotions as your own. Adam drives the story, but the real story is about the character - learning to be selfless and think of others while dealing with the quest for power and prestige. At the end of the book, the reader is challenged to discover if love, faith, and hope can grow in chaos and dismal circumstances. Although I am not a science fiction fan, I found myself “dreaming dreams” of what's to come in Book II, “Homeland Rescued.”
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2023This is an amazing book. It was hard to put down and I felt a sense of longing for the next one once I finished it. The settings are so creative, intriguing, and vibrant and the characters are so relatable. The main characters and minor characters all remind the reader of people we know at work, at home, and around the neighborhood. The character arcs are thoughtful and sensitive and while the setting is on various planets and moons in the future, there’s very much a sense of how the lessons they learn from their experiences can be applied for a better life and sense of higher purpose to anyone here and now. It’s written with a balance of exciting adventure, real world great challenges, and kind heartedness. Very well done. A great work and I’m excited for the next one!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2023Adam in Taoland is an interesting journey of a young man who went from a black/white/gray world to a lavish, colorful existence in another galaxy somewhere. His evolving - his growing and learning experiences - was a fascinating journey which was a delight to read. The descriptions provided by the author were so vivid, I could see them in my imagination. I didn't want this book to end and I cannot wait until the next book to see where life takes Adam.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2023Adam in Taoland delivers a powerful message about the meaning of life, which the main character comes to understand as his life progresses in different alien worlds. The lessons Adam learns as he struggles with competition on the job, balancing work with family life, and learning to appreciate different forms of life and personalities, come slowly. In the end, Adam learns that what he valued as a young man matters little in the grand scheme of things. I enjoyed the book so much that, although it is a novel, I found myself taking notes to cement in my mind the philosophical truths discovered by Adam during his journey. I am looking forward to the sequels.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2023I found this book captivating. Initially, I was lost in the sci-fi, it was a new adventure for me since I don’t gravitate to this genre. However, it did pique my curiosity. Then I found an interesting intertwining of what seemed to be an autobiography grappling with reality and expectations. Each moon demonstrated the growth and the young man’s aspirations and the struggles of the family’s dealing with changes. It exemplified conflicts of a time of a time of life. The delight of the book is the author’s ability to weave imagination and reality. He demonstrates the resilience of the human spirit in an outer worldliness. I look forward to reading the next two books.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2023I loved this book when I was doubtful. I am not much of a fantasy fiction reader but this is so much more. First, the author's imagination is incredible, adding to it lessons in management style, relationships, even some politics! It's clear the author has drawn from his long and successful career and it makes you wonder how much is autobiography! I can't wait for the second installment!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2023Enjoy this book immensely! So much so that I got copies for my grandkids. Although the book is a fantasy novel it hods many truisms & it is thought provoking.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2022A.i.T. is unlike any novel I have read. I've generally read war and mystery novels. This is the first intergalactic /fantasy/mystery/love novel i've attemped. What a hoot Great Read !
