Julie Seely is a graduate of Wellesley College and the Tufts University School of Medicine. Her early writing career focused on developing educational health materials for women. In 2010, she began writing about her grandfather's legacy, Nathan Seely, and the famous skinny house he built in Mamaroneck, New York. Her screenplay, Skinny House, won the best screenplay award (women's category) at the fall 2021 Big Apple Film Festival. Ten Feet Wide-The Story of a Skinny House, a short documentary, won the best long-short historical documentary award at the 2022 WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival. Upcoming creative projects include a musical inspired by Nathan’s story and a feature documentary about transgender activist Dee Dee Chamblee, honored by President Obama as a champion of change. Inspired by Nathan's story, Skinny House Productions LLC produces and shares untold diverse family legacies, one story at a time.
