The “Green Dog” cafe hid masterfully at one of the streets of old Leipzig. Cafe’s symbol - the toy green dog - was a silent witness of numerous fateful meetings and painful break- ups. But that night was different. The toy dog was watching an incredible, passionate and hypnotizing dance of one couple. The toy dog wished their dance lasted forever. So it happened. Almost.

The Everlasting Dance was the twelfth book I read in 2021 and the third one by this author. In this novella, we follow a love story between a young lady from Paris named Linda and a young man from Seville named Marcus. It all started in one of the coffee shops in Leipzig: The Green Dog.
They danced their first dance and it lasted forever. Linda chose her career as a sculptor over marriage and regretted that decision later on. Whereas, Marcus prioritized family although loving his work as a veterinarian. This book will make you think about priorities. It was well written and the descriptions of the characters, their emotions, and the places were beyond great. I liked the unexpected end of this story. I even admired the book more when I knew that it was based on a true story. The writing style was similar to The Watchmaker: A Clock Can Talk. The author succeeded in telling the story in a catchy way. Read this book, you won’t regret it!

People often complain that life is cruel to them since it doesn’t let their dream come true. Seldom do they imagine what they would do if fate gave them a chance to fulfill more than one of their dreams.

Marcus and Linda are young, enthusiastic about the careers they’ve chosen, and passionate about their futures. It’s no wonder they have been singled out by fate. They’ve been given the most precious gift people can dream of. But it so happens sometimes that not the twists of fate serve as obstacles on one’s path to happiness. Sometimes it’s people who build walls within themselves.

“The Everlasting Dance” by Ellen Khodakivska is a beautiful story of life choices and fateful decisions. Leipzig, Seville, Paris – their streets keep countless memories of people who laughed, shared secrets with each other, whispered words of love, and dreamt that around the corner new opportunities await them. These streets were silent witnesses to Marcus and Linda’s story, never sharing their vast experience about the twists and turns of human fates. We are lucky we don’t need old stones to tell us people’s stories. It’s always other people who share them with the world. I’m grateful to Ellen Khodakivska for sharing the story an old-fashioned, elegant man she met in the park told her, having sensed that she can do it justice.

This story will tug at your heartstrings and more than once you will shed tears in sadness or frustration made greater by the fact that this is a true accounting. If we are all fortunate to share our dance, it is a lesson never to take such a blessing for granted. Everlasting dances do not come with such frequency that we can value other priorities. Well presented as a metaphorical dance, it left me wondering how this love story would end.

The author leads us through story about love and ambition. Linda chose ambition over love and regret it later. Her fiance respect her choice but never forget love toward her. Everlasting dance is a sculpture, a symbol of love that did not survive but brings a strong message about priorities. A story that made you cry.

5.0 out of 5 stars A novella which will teach you so much about life!
Reviewed in India on July 7, 2022
Learnt so much from this touching story of Marcus and Linda. I had previously read two books written by the author and this is the third one I read. I loved reading all of them so much. This novella had everything in it which made it the most touching story I had ever read till now. The best part about the book was that it's a true story. The author had so beautifully written the story of Marcus and Linda. And every chapter includes a quote which was the highlighter about this book. I'm so happy to have read this book. I was emotional in certain pages while reading the story. But as this was Marcus's story so his request should be kept and I will also remember the story about the couple the way Marcus wanted to as written in the Epilogue.

    Favourite Lines from the book:

    1. I am not a very sociable person; I can exchange a few words with a stranger but it rarely flows into such a conversation.
    2. People can help each other but only a person can help an animal 💗
    3. Little Marcus dragged home almost every stray animal and helped them. Sometimes rescuing his four-legged friends. 💗
    4. Walking around an unfamiliar city, look carefully around; the most interesting cafes love to not only hide but also to surprise.
    5. Once in awhile he started relationship but they did not last long 😔
    6. If he had to choose between going to the movies or an urgent call to a cat's birth, in most cases he would choose the second option.
    7. I know it's a bad practice for a girl to be the first who writes but as you have noticed, rules are alien to me 💗
    8. Letters are an amazing thing. In them, you can say everything that you dare not say out loud.
    9. Believe it is important not only to succeed, it is also important to have someone whom this success can be shared with.
    10. I feel like a bee in front of which there is an enormous camomile field. And this tiny bee needs to fly around the entire field to have time to pollinate all the flowers.

Very touching story. Totally recommend to all readers.
And rating this beautiful novella is so true and filled with emotions that it deserves all the stars. But since here we can only give Five stars ✴️✴️✴️✴️✴️ definitely a five star.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magie et désillusions
Reviewed in France on March 3, 2019
