Unlike my other two books in the series, the back story of this book is true, and it happened to me. I was treated abominably by the supervisor in my first advertising job, a woman. There were some moments of triumph, and the ultimate story was one of triumph for me - but I would never want to live through that torture again. I have come to the conclusion that folks with strong personalities tend to attract abusers. What did not kill me did make me stronger - but it was a high price to pay. I like to think I created a book that could still make you laugh, but could enlighten readers on the horrors that can occur in an office surrounded by coworkers. And for me, when ill treated, murder is often the answer.
It reminded me of a difficult time and a horrifying supervisor, but it also made me laugh. I quite enjoyed killing her. Unlike the other books in the Donna Leigh Mysteries series, the back story on the murder victim in this book is 100% true - and I was her victim. In this book I got to make her my victim.
