How Arnie Saved the Ant Colony on Merkel Mountain
by Donna RentfrowPublish: May 05, 2018Children's Book Overview
The setting for this story is on beautiful Merkel Mountain that sits in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Central Alabama. There are hundreds of trees and lots of vegetation on Merkel Mountain. The soil is mostly red clay with embedded rocks and the moist air on the mountain makes a perfect place for an ant colony. And where there are ants, there is probably an anteater nearby.
A young ant named Arnie lives with his parents, Asa and Amelia, his baby sister, Anna and his pet rollie pollie bug, Rollo. The ant colony is threatened by an anteater and Arnie thinks of a clever way to rid him from the mountain forever.
