BIOGRAPHY I love dancing, writing, astronomy, sci-fi, and grapes. I'm agender, aromantic, and asexual, and even though my labels describe many things I am not, my motto in life is “I can be everything I want, just not all at the same time.”
Although I have yet to get paid to eat grapes, I was delighted to learn that people would pay me to study black holes, and spent much of my twenties as a black hole hunter. I was rewarded with an astronomy PhD, which promptly inspired me to move to L.A. to be a screenwriter. How I ended up working on weather satellites for NOAA, we may never know.
My writing is heavily influenced by the ideas of spiritual warfare that I was exposed to as a child, and I tend to include non-corporeal aliens in my stories, as well as humans with supernatural powers. In fall 2017, I achieved a life dream and published my first book, “The Disappeared.” Check out my web page for details: http://www.valeriejmikles.com
An asexual activist, I also write and produce comedic short films featuring asexual characters. They are free to watch on youtube and linked to my web page. As I become more confident in my identity, my books are starting to feature more queer characters, but I'm always true to my sci-fi roots.
