THE CARLISLE TRILOGY :
This completely engaging saga follows the parallel lives of Eve Charbonneau and her illegitimate son Gaston Voclain, someone cruelly snatched from her at birth on the instruction of a socially ambitious father and a mother too weak to interfere. In desperation, Eve changes her name, cutting all ties with her middle class family and moves to Paris, the hedonistic capital of France where her fortunes change substantially under the mentorship of Madame Kelly, owner of the most famous bordello in Europe, Le Chabanais. With the tragic death of her counselor and close friend due to the ravages of drink and tuberculosis Eve is left with only one comfort … the continuing search for her son.
When the Germans fall on France at the beginning of WWII, Eve is retired in Poiters having amassed a fortune gifted to her by Madame Kelly. She becomes an active member of the notorious ‘Maquis’ and confident of the German area administrator, Colonel Meyer.
The lives of Eve and Gaston dramatically converge in a prison cell with the meeting orchestrated by sadistic Gestapo chief Herr Hauptmann Steiger. Gaston will eventually survive the encounter but his mother, Eve will not. The undercover agent, known by the fearsome Maquis in France as Agent Pierre, will be uncloaked at the end of the war and offered a new identity as American businessman Glen Carlisle. he sets off to create a business empire with the money and assets left to him by his mother.
