As an escaped slave, Roland Neville came to the small, Colorado town of Blue Spruce to start a new life for himself and his family. The wary townspeople tolerate the large man because of his talent working iron in the forge and allow him a homestead. But with little family and very few friends, the farrier’s life is a lonely one. Coming home after a long day in town, Roland finds an injured silver mustang in his barn. He lets the animal spend the night, only to find a handsome Native American named Nakas in the mustang’s place the next morning. Nakas reveals that his true form is a centaur with spiritual powers, charged to protect his people and their ancestral lands.
