D̶i̶s̶ ability

Stories of success do not often begin with success, and the journey to success has more bumps and turns. These sentiments could never be truer, as Jeff Berk’s real story shows.
Jeff and his friends were out racing on their bikes one summer before he advanced to fifth grade. Just as most kids and probably adults do while racing, he got cut off, which made him wreck his bicycle. Breaking his arm and having a few cuts and bruises was no issue for him because eventually, he healed. What Jeff and his parents did not know is, that incident was to change his life for good.
Little did he and his parents know that he would end up being diagnosed with a learning disability.
If you put yourself in Jeff Berk’s shoes, how would you cope with such a disability?
As is expected, he struggled in and out of school. He desired a normal life but achieving that kind of life would not come easy. He got ridiculed in school, he had difficulties keeping his grades up, and when it came to going to college, things had been so bumpy that his counselor discouraged him heavily to drop any aspirations he had about going to college.
How did Jeff get through the negatives? Did he finally go to college?
Jeff had two things that kept him going; his mother and football. When Jeff went home that day after his counselor broke his heart in two about not going to college, his mom went back to that school and talked to the principal and other heads. She was fighting for her son for Jeff to understand that no one had the power to dictate the future unless he allowed it. This kind of support is what Jeff needed, and he leveraged its power enough for him to pass his ACTs and go to college. The best thing is that he went through college on a full scholarship!
You might be wondering if he got over his disability. Well, he did!
Disability should not stop you or your child from succeeding, and if you have been looking for a real story that will walk you step by step from how life is for someone who has a disability to how to live free from it, then this is the book for you!
This makes it a perfect book for someone who is down, has probably been diagnosed with a learning disability (or has a physical disability that’s weighing them down), and any parent or guardian to the specially abled. The disability is nothing but a different kind of ability that shouldn’t dictate/limit your life!
After reading this book, you will view disability from a different set of eyes – be excited about conquering the world despite being abled differently in whichever way!
As they say, as long as you are alive, the world is full of possibilities, and this book will show you how!
