    • Eddie the Elephant’s Magical Ear is a tale for children, but it is also a tool to open up discussions between children and teachers, teachers and parents, and all of those who suffer or know someone who experiences the challenges that come with hearing loss. A wonderful aspect of the story is when the itsy bitsy spider teaches Eddie that LOUD, LOUD NOISE can BREAK an ear this way! Sadly, once broken, an ear will likely stay that way! What should Eddie do???? Can he find the help he needs to hear again?

Eddie is an elephant who breaks and loses his ear. Without his ear he cannot hear. With the help of an itsy bitsy spider who helps find Eddie’s ear, and sews it back on with the thread from his web, they go on an unexpected journey that teaches them about the value of hearing. Ultimately, Eddie get a magical bright blue hearing aid (and his hearing back).

Suzanne Picerno is a previous corporate professional who lost her hearing over a 30 year period of time. Now a bilateral cochlear implant recipient, she is a passionate advocate for hearing health.
