      • While I had arrived in Crete with the intention to write a novel, and I had a kernel of an idea I was going to pursue, I had no idea the Minoans existed, nor that they were a matriarchal society. Once I discovered their history it was so apparent that this book could not have been written anywhere else but Crete. I hope by utilising my research on this amazing civilisation - the most advanced civilisation of the Bronze Age - I could share my knowledge of our history and bring to the fore women's history and stories
